Its not that hard , it all depends on how far are you willing to go and what $$$$$ youre willing to spend , YES i agree its no BOLT ON but its not like droping in a v6 neither , its realy hard if you dont know how to do jack s....! or if you pay a nother it will cost you more than the cars worht!! .

It becomes very expensive if you want to keep the air conditioner because you wuld have to custom make all the racks for p/s , air conditioner , alternator etcc.....

Trust me i did a 88 crx and i spend $3,500.00 on everything from buying the engine to installing it and fiting it in the car along wiht a nother bunch of parts..



Im going to try to get the pictures off before and after i know i have them some were in my shop.

Fact is, most stuff out there is for tuning Civics and CRX's. Barely anyone makes anything for Accords. There are kits out there for putting h22's into Civics and CRX's.... maybe not alot of kits, but they do exist.

Aside from bolt on stuff (even though there is a factory V6 available that I think a few of us would like to modify and drop into our Accords), there is not alot of stuff out there.

And, as I imagine we all have learned, asking Honda to give us any insight on parts interchangability is a waste of time. I had a service guy tell me the other day that he thinks the computers between the 90-93 cars and the 94-97 cars mount in different locations. Let him tell it, the 94-97 ECU is mounted on the drivers side of the car... priceless huh?

In all seriousness, there are numerous similarities (yay!) and numerous differences (nooo!) between the 3G and 4G Accords.

Getting VTEC power into a 3G is probably easiest with B18/16. Tons of options, plus bolt-in kits available for moderate amounts of $$.

But we just can't leave well enough alone. the 4G boys got their H22 fix, but what about us? Our cars are lighter! Their... uh... cooler!

But an H22A in a 3G? Be prepared to REALLY learn how a car works if you attempt this. :) This thing is a monster. Totally new electronics, more modern fuel injection, dramatically different engine mounts, different axles, huge transmission, etc. Furthermore, no mounts kits. None at all.

Why not? You ask...

BECAUSE of the Civic/CRX. The CRX is even lighter and cheaper. It's the perfect drag car shell. Mega mods aren't a problem if you're doing a complete teardown and rebuild anyway. People just don't that with 3G Accords. It's just not economical. But damn, 200 HP / 166 tq in a 2500lb car?

It is POSSIBLE...

To other naysayers, BITE ME!

Mock up a pair of frankenaxles and build 4 custom engine mounts, then re-wire about %80 of your vehicle. Poof, 'easy' H22A power! ;)

Never said it could not be done, just that it is not an easy swap cause no one makes any kits to help facilitate the change.

No one makes a big block Ford kit for a Pinto either, but I have seen plenty heavy iron Pinto's picking up the front tires at Englishtown.

I bet that half of you complaining out there have never spent a whole summer changing parts fronm youre 3gen in to other cars just to see if they fit in youre car , well i have and i have a very good list fronm mazda to acuras and civics from 1988 @ 1999.

Let me fill you in in a cuple of hint's i custom make all the engine mounts for h22 in crx from suspencion bars fron late fords truck's lifetime warrante.

the moust dificult part's to make are the axel's wich you wuold have to buy integras and civic 4 door , sou that you can make one out of two .

Sou you see its not that hard , but then again i realy like to take on strange proyects .

SERIOUS! aint nobody stopping u from doing anything. the point (and it has been pointed out before) is that by the time ur done doing an actual h22 swap. it could cost as much as to jus have a built GSR motor than a stock h22. sure! it's an awesome engine, but until u actually get it done. then come back here and repost a new thread about ur successful swap. im not talkin shit.. but ive been here TOO long (since the first 3geez board ever) to never say anything until now. in other words, im tired of seeing useless post about I CAN DO A H22 and IT'S NOT HARD TO DO.... Don't read it, ut uh nice try. You are the one that hasn't read all the other H22 posts. If you had, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Become a expert on why we say what we say on the H22 for the 3rd gen and I gurantee you won't have so much attitude.

I was talking about swapping the Prelude into what I called my own "early" ACCORD. Not a 3rd Gen. Even on mine, I would need the whole front driveline.

The swap I called easy was the SOHC VTEC from a mid 90's ACCORD. Even then, easy is relative. I have been advised that even this swap is different for my car than it is for a 3rd Gen.

I never said H22 into a 3rd Gen. I said F22.
