yeah I was just wonderin, if there was any companies that make performance clutches or clutch kits for our cars.. I heard a while back that some company does...

cuz I am needing a new clutch soon, and I was thinkin, since I am getting my clutch replaced, may aswell throw in a performance or racing clutch...

also, what do these things go for?? as in how much $$$??

thanks

get a ACT clutch. they run a low or high of 300 bucks online. and think about spending 200 bucks atleast on labor.

The last clutch job with the ACT clutch was for my friend and we took it to our family mechanic and he was actually suprised cause the ACT clutch was nothing different than the stock replacement. of course u can get the copper 4 finger clutch with rough engagement and faster wear, but a racy drive, or the 8 finger one. But to me, doing a performance clutch is of a waste when i dont have performance add-ons on my car.

get stage 2 cluch and do the work yourself. save those $200 and spend them on other mods.

yeah.. looks like I will have to do some clutch shopping and research...

I don't have the equipment to do the job myself:(

doing a clutch replacement is not a big deal but u need to have a hydraulic lift, a extemdable crate/support for your transaxle and a strong friend who would help you out when something falls. u need to have gear oil to replace it when u drain the fluid. Its a dirty job cause when my mechanic did it for my friend, we three did it together and trust me, its not light as it seems without the required tools. but its something i will have to do on my own in the years to come. hope u get your clutch fixed soon, cause unlike me u dont wanna get stranded cause of a broken clutch when hauling 5 people.

lol..
yeah.. I rarely have more then 3 ppl in my car at a time... so thats ok...but at least you had 5 to push!! hahaha

well it's not needing replacement yet...but will be soon.. I can feel it..

esp when I put it in 3rd and step on it.. it doesn't seem to grab rite away..

I am not sure.. but when i do that.. it goes into gear, but the revs go up and up, and the speed is slowly increasing, until then it catches and goes..can't describe..haha

I need to add sounds..

You can do it yourself, but be sure that it will cost you a few extra bucks for the right tools.

3 people to help? Crate/support for the tranny? Dang, I got under the car, pulled it onto my chest and pumped that sucker up where it belongs! :smokin: Gear oil? 10w30 works fine. :D

Exactly like my clutch. Gonna get me a Centerforce in a week or so.

yeah.. cuz it only does it when I step hard on it.. like going from 2nd to 3rd and punching it..

the revs go up like 3-4 or 4500 and the speed doesn't increase much..then it catches and goes...

so i dunno if it's my flywheel wearing out.. or if it's a combo between the clutch and flywheel..

afterall, it's my original clutch still.. my car has 177,000kms.

have you tried just adjusting the clutch cable?

no I havent... haha

thats funny.. my buddie just told me to do the exact same thing..haha

now if that doesn't work.... then I take it, it's most likely my clutch correct??

yeah i think if you adjust the cable and it is still acting up it is the clutch itself

did u adjust your clutch cable/pedal every 6000 or so miles? cause u gotta do it. Not because the repair manual or the owners manual says it, but cause thats the best way to pinpoint your clutch wear.

hey smuf..

No I haven't done that.. I have only had my car since October.. but I have put maybe 18,000kms on it since then..

it only has 177,000kms....which for an 87 is still really good..

but thats another good idea to look at.. thanks alot man..

I never thought of these things....haha

ahhhhhhhh what would I do without you guys....

hehehe, exactly man. IF not for these guys, i would not have even started to work on my car after the crash. I would have junked it. But looking at these ppl here, and how attached they are to their car and how much they know about it, gave me the encouragement and support to stick with my 3g and fix her up. Its amazing how ppl even without seeing each other face to face can be of such a great help. miracles do happen, :)

That's an Unorthodox Racing clutch. 100% kevlar and unsprung, though it's not instant engagement.

It retails for around 500 dollars, but I was able to swipe it off of eBay for 150 bucks (!!!).

Can't turn that down.
