is this safe to do? my friend did it in his crx and he gain some mid to top end power, i heard advancing it gives better topend and retarding it gives better low end,

is this safe for engines? also would it be safe on a DOHC engine?

Advancing the timing is safe up to a point you don't want to go to much or else you will get detoniation

You need an adjustable cam gear to know where you are exactly. If not, you can only advance/retard one tooth.

advancing or retarding one tooth is very extreme, like usually 8-12 degrees. You can get power gains by as little as 2-3 degrees. If you want top end power then you retard the cam, if you want low-mid range power advance the cam. Its safe provided you dont get crazy with advance or retard or dont overrev the engine
