anyone rebuild their own a20a1 block?

im wondering have any of you rebuilt your engine block , how much did it cost and did you guys get bigger pistons. also one of my rods are snaped in half and the piston looks damaged, could i just replace that piston,or do them all?

dood. im starting that myself. do you have to pull the engine out to totaly clean that shit? :/ id like to just remove the valve cover, and valves.....just to take a peak whats going on in there. if its really crappy pull the engine. but i dont want to do something i dont have to.

i took off the oil pan and the whole head so that i could pull one piston out because the ro dis broke, but an engine kit is around 500 bucks but i think if you want to replace everything in there you should probably take it out, i just want to reploace one piston on my own , but before i go to a yard and pull a piston out of another car i want some advice. what do you think?

if you have the cash i would suggest performance pistons. just go totaly new.

did you leave the engine in to take the oil pan out?

THE ENGINE IS STILL IN THE CAR I JUST WANT TO GET IT ROLLING AND I THINK I CAN JUST GET ONE USED ONE AND THROW IT IN THERE

Im sure you can use another piston in place of the ruined one, but I'm sure that its adviseable to change all 4 at once.

to rebuild the a20 motor, you are looking at 15 to 17k.. I am doin mine, but I am goin extreme.. so mine is goin to be in the 4k group..

just shop around and you can find stuff cheap

You need to check the block for damage b4 you spend your time changing stuff.

ive jusst looked as far as the piston that is damaged. if someone can show me how to post picts i will show youguys exactly what im talking bout cause im not trying to go high performance right now, i just want to get it rolling cause i think i want a b2o engine but let me know how to post and then i think you guys can help me out even more, remember im just a fem so i aint n to all that other shit right now just to get it runing

Umm, quite a bit don't you think? Not even a GSR with turbos, mounts, shafts, upgraded rods and pistons, tranny, suspension, body mods, etc. would be 17k (DIY of course).

On another note, check for block damage, any heat warpage on the head gasket mating surface, metal pieces in the oil pan and so forth.

Autozone has a rebuild kit for the A20A1 for $459.00 plus shipping in my area.
