I'am not sure if i read the # off the engine right, But i was looking at a Civic Hatch and can get the engine for $40 well i look at the code says D15B1 (Im pretty sure it did) ..well i come home to look it up ..http://www.geocities.com/honda_club_egypt/engines.htm okay it says that it's 8v SOHC on there, But on the valve cover it said 16v And im sure it said DOHC as well.

Well it's like this,

1:I read the code on the engine wrong.

2:It has a different valve cover.

3:The info on the website is wrong, Wich i highly doubt.

It's one of those above.

if it was a civic HF then it's an 8 valve engine....

Even if I was paid 1000 bucks to put that engine in my car I wouldn't do it.......

Dude, our EFI cars have 120 Hp... we need something that's worth the trouble if you want to swap...

Don't worry im not going to swap. I was just confused with the valve cover on the engine saying 16v DOHC and that website saying 8v SOHC. If it had a B series engine then that would've been a whole diff story, I still could've bought it for $40 no matter what engine it had sence my friend owns the junk yard.

In my Chilton man it's listed as a SOHC 16 valve DPFI rated at 70 HP @ 5500, 83ft.lbs.@3000

omg WEEAK
come on people let's just accept that no D series is ever going to be worth a shit in our cars because it would take too much to swap in

That's actually a good idea! ...Thank's for clearing up the confusion Steve. I never even considered doing a swap for that engine, I was wanting to figure out if it was 8v or 16v, SOHC or DOHC ..What i planned to do was buy it for $40 and clean it up a bit then sell it for more, Thats if i could get more.

You cant tell if it's a SOHC or a DOHC motor? All my sources say SOHC 16v, 70 hp, like what 88LXi/87CRXSi said. No offense man, but start looking at more engine pictures! You should be able to look at a valve cover and instantly tell if it's SOHC or DOHC. There is VERY distinguishable size difference!

Like i said, The valve cover said 16v and i wasnt to sure but thought it said DOHC somewhere on it. Once i looked up the engine at The Website (http://www.geocities.com/honda_club_egypt/engines.htm) and read it was 8v SOHC, I was confused. Thats why i made this thread, Was to figure out wich it is.

I know what you mean, but people do that all the time! Just because you see a Type-R badge on a Civic doesnt mean you actually believe it is, until you see the motor! I dont care if a valve cover said Quad-Cam, if I dont see that many cams, the I dont care, it's not a Quad-Cam, regardless of what anything says.
