well my car looks a lot better, after i fixed my rusting bumper filler. there are still a lot of things that can be done to improve the asthetics on my car, but this was a major one! now there is really no rust to the naked eye (though i know of a spot or two that is sneakily rusting! :(

well i had an extra bumper filler (thats teh name of my rusted peice) from josh's car (goldyaccord) and i sanded it down with 200 grit, and sanded potential rust spots down to bare clean metal. them i primed with a duplicolor primer/sealer - gray, and then bought a can of b35m paint that was matched at my friendly neighborhood paint store! total cost was about $25 for supplies, not including the gold bumper filler. :)

very nice job! Damn, Josh has got to be happy to see, now his old wheels and bumper filler on your car. His car lives on through yours.

Nice work. I need to do some work on mine this summer. Are you going to put the LX-i badge back on?

do you know how difficult it is to weld in a new section to the quarter panel? my 5g accord is starting to bubble and i want to catch it before it gets out of control.

yea i'd have to say that's one of the cleanest looking hatches i've seen. only thing i have to object to is the muffler tip. i just think it sticks out too far. other than that's it's beutiful.

i agree with you there. and its not a stainless tip. so as you can see it is oxidizing, and becoming unsightly. as soon as it is feasable, i am getting a fireball style muffler, and it will be in "the right spot" it will be tucked under the bumper, and not stock out.

i have a stainless muffler on my 94 accord that is starting to rust and it looks awful so i feel your pain. it's also dented on the bottom from scraping on the entrance of hooters. (well worth the pain)

wow looks much much better in the back now. I changed that out on my old CRX too. Mine had that evil evil rust on it too. Did you have to paint that or did you get it off a car that color?

oh wow you did a nice job too. Did you use spray paint from the store? Or did you get special colr paint and all that good stuff. It looks like it matches really nice.

it was spray paint from a can. but i went down to the paint store, and had them mix it to spec.

paint code b35-m. and he looked it up in a book to verify it was the right color, and mixed it right there, threw it in an aroesol (sp) can, and pressurized it.

the paint cost 14.95 and $4.95 for the primer. $2.00 for sand paper... pretty cheap, and it came out really close!

It came out close? I'd think he mixed it right but your existing paint is faded from 13 years of use :D

i have a friend who is buying either an 88 or 89 accord lx sedan for 400 bucks. it only has 126k miles on it and runs like a dream. however it is a salvage vahicle that has been repaired but still needs a few things. the hood needs to be painted as well as one of the headlights. i was just wondering what was involved in painting that piece on your car. first of all do you think a store like sherwin williams would have the paint? did you use a clear coat? also if anyone has any tips for painting such a large surface w/out it looking like i did it with a spray can. i think it's even the same color as your hatch.
