my brakes have been contantly squeaking lately and i notice my gas milage is alot worse so i decided to take a look at my brakes. the pads are rubbing the rotor all the time. is there a way i can loosen them up so that they arnt rubbing???

yeah try lubricating the top and bottom of the pads. this should help them slide in and out.
Also, your calipers may need to be replaced.

i dont see how lubricating the pads would move them away from the rotors.

The pads are supposed to rest on the rotors. But your caliper piston might be stuck. Raise the car and try to turn the wheel and see if it's really difficult to turn.

Squeak? The only reason they should sqeak should be there worn out or there is rust/dirt/dust stuck in em.

i already lifted the car and the wheel moves about a quarter inch in each direction and thats it.

make sure the brake pistons in the calipers arent seized either.

remove the caliper and use a C-clamp to push the piston back in. Then hit the brake pedal to push it back out. Then use the c-clamp again. repeat a few times and maybe add a little lubricant to help it move. Good luck.

Also, try filing down the small grooves that the caliper sits in and use brake lube afterwards then reinstall the caliper. A lot easier on the piston.
