Yo 3geez. i am planning on buying my friends rims off of him . and i drive a 86 honda accord lxi 4dr. I am not planing on dropping the car. but i don't want lowprofiles that show too much space between the wheel and the car body. what is a good size tire for that kinda a set up. that makes the rim looks good and don't show too much space. and if posible can you post like a pic of that kind of set up on the accord. thanks

Do not get yourself into running tall tires. You don't have the horsepower to do that, it would be just like running taller gearing. It'll slow you down big time. Now that being said, the proper plus size for 16's on a 3rd gen is 205/45/16.

What rims are you thinking about buying of your friend? Do you know for a fact that they have a minimum of 40mm offset? You'd have to have 45mm offset to run 215/45-16.

Btw, that space your talking about, is their because of how honda did the fender designs, only true way to get rid of it is to lower the car. Stock 3g's look way to high, lowering them is the cure.

16X7 5-108 40S would this size work on a 3g?

No, sure wouldn't.

The 40s means 40mm offset and a silver finish (did you get those specs off discount tires web site?) Obviciously the offset if fine.

5-108 is the deal killer. That means a bolt pattern of 5x108mm. You have to have 4x100mm. I think 5x108mm is a ford bolt pattern, but I'm not positive.

No, has to be 4x100mm

4x108mm won't work.

Hey, check out www.whalentire.com, run a search for wheels using 4x100mm bolt pattern. You can also revisit discouttire and plug in the same 4x100mm bolt pattern. Just remember the minimum 40mm offset thing.

Well I went to http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html and plugged in 205/45-16 at the bottom of the page (NOT at the top) and it shows 3.6" sidewall height and a exact match for the stock tires overall height or diameter. BTW, I'm positive that the 3.6" figure does not include the amount that will be covered up by the mounting lip of the rim.

Any civic rim will work on the 3g since they use 4x100mm to.
