A week ago my battery died, so I bought a new one. Duralast is the name. After I put my battery in my dash battery light remains on after a brand new battery. The cars runs absolutely fine except that the battery lights is on and now I'm paranoid to drive it. What can I do to fix this without me taking it to Pep Boys. By the way, I do run a 1000 watt system. Please Help!!!:(

Unless your that 1000watts is RMS your not killing your battery. It might be that your alternator is on it's way out though. Go to a place like Autozone and have them test it for you. They usually offer that service for free.

Okay, I just got back from Autozone and they tested my alternator and it gives the battery 12 point something power or something like that. The guy said the alternator should be giving the battery 13 or 14 point something power. So does this really mean I need a new alternator and if so, how much?

You should have asked the guy that tested it. Usually one of the guys at the store is pretty good with cars.

I am having the same problem with my 88 lx. My dad and I tested the voltage and discovered that the battery was not charging. That is what the battery light means. I think it tested at 12.5 and dropped to 12.3 when running, anyway he told me it wasnt charging. Ok this is not that much of a problem just put a new alt in, NOPE, Ya gotta pull the driver side cv axle to get it out, what bullshit. If anyone has done it without pulling the cv let me know.

i got prices for alt- about 90 bucks CV about 80
