(Part 1)

some pics from my '86 Aerodeck i took today (she's dirty, i didn't have water and wax with me  )

http://www.hot.ee/helluvacold/honda/side_sand.jpg

nevermind the black Opel 14" rims, haven't found nice/suitable 15" yet with affordable price

http://www.hot.ee/helluvacold/honda/front_wh.jpg

yea i know , the passanger side is a bit scraped :)

http://www.hot.ee/helluvacold/honda/tuli.jpg

have you ever seen the european aerodeck bumper light? you dont wanna - 100% non-see-through orange :( ...and we don't have aftermarket ones is stores....so the only option was to do the clear ones myself, including the reflectors (original were almost white coloured, very ugly)...i took some Peugeot ones and modded them with scissors and saw. covers are made of 3mm plexiglas (i used some kinda PVC melter for doing the corners). guess they're ok for rev. 1.0

http://www.hot.ee/helluvacold/honda/sleepy_front.jpg

..as u can see the driver side bumper light is missing a bulb and socket (gonna get ones in few days)

(Part 2)

http://www.hot.ee/helluvacold/honda/engine.jpg

A20A2 - no mods :( Bosch Platinum 4 plugs, Bosch wires (i know i should have bought NGK but...) i re-flipped the lid cuz i used sandy and crappy roads today

http://www.hot.ee/helluvacold/honda/gauges_evening.jpg

so here are modded (inverted, cuz white ones would be too shiny at night imo) Paul's gauges in the evening shining in the UV light (10cm 12v bulb in front of the gauges, above). I printed them with a black-n-white laserjet, usual A4 paper (i'm a lazy idiot, i know :) - there appeared some waves in a week in the paper). the orange and green areas of the gauges were made by using neon marker on neccessary white areas.

....and dash at night

hmz... thats all at the moment. tell me what u think. thx

i removed all the stock bulbs behind the gauges...there's only 1 10cm UV bulb (in front ,above)

from manufacturer (www.velleman.be) :
COLD-CATHODE FLUORESCENT LAMPS, Ø 4mm, LENGTH 10cm, BLACKLIGHT

got it for ~13$

He probly used plain black paper becuase I can see some winkles. Glossy paper doesnt winkle, it's too thick.

yep, those winkles suck, especially in daytime.
guess i have to remake them and use something that doesn't winkle and bleach in couple of months (hm...)

question.. is the light actually behind the gauges. or above them,
also..
how did u get the colors u wanted.
did u print those colors out?
another question.. lol..
black-n-white laserjet ?? what does that mean.. lol
i know what a laserjet printer is.. but what exactly does black n white laser jet mean.. hehe

wikkedv15: (and other ppl) sry 4 my crappy english :)

i was trying to explain that my laser printer isn't able to print colors (black-only...hm maybe grayscale is its name?). after printing i used different neon markers that were hanging around.

the UV bulb is above the gauges (u know there are 2 little bulbs in a white plastic thingy when you remove the upper cover of the spido block)

glad u liked them, thx

rehv_Aerodeck86
06-03-2003, 08:17 AM
in Estonia yer lights must be always on while driving, so the answer is yes, u can see them a bit (much better in a shadow or dark place)

blazin2gen: closer shot of the gauges?

blazin3gen
06-03-2003, 08:18 AM
yea of the gauges with light and without light(day time) PLZ :D

i have a pic of ones that i made from pauls gauges hehhe..
they look pimp.. if anyone can post em..
there pretty suttle but the colors i used are pretty good and will work good with a neon light

rehv_Aerodeck86
06-03-2003, 09:35 PM
it's 220 Km/h..wish it would go so fast (133Mph) :|

there are Koni gas shocks in the front , rear are regular oils

about the pic in daytime....haven't hot one right now with illumination off, but this is rather close (uv on)

rehv_Aerodeck86
06-04-2003, 09:24 AM
maybe u like the original ones (by Paul) more....there is US version also. but if these.... just invert paul's and print in grayscale...and use neon markers

hey rehv u should u know makethose and sell them to us mainly me :D (and when i mean sell i mean the whole cluster and stuff ;))

89AccordLvr
06-04-2003, 10:17 AM
he could make good money cuz alot of us love em includin me

rehv_Aerodeck86
06-04-2003, 12:26 PM
cmon, it was Paul's idea to sell them at the first place :) ....but then he decided to share the gauges freely with us... it would be lame if i'm gonna sell his effort.

you'll enjoy the result 10x more if u have done the UV mod yourself , rather buying it ;)
if anyone wants those gauges as an image file (inverted, b&w, euro....open with photoshop) then i can upload them somewhere - you can print and install them yourself

applicable UV bulb can be bought from any random PC hardware or electronics vendor for 10-20$ i guess

other neccessary/reccomended stuff :

- screwdriver: ( for opening the gauge block)
- neon markers (for painting the printed gauges as u like)
- some carpet-tape (or glue or whatever 4 attaching the printed gauges on the originals)
- soldering iron would be nice (for connecting the UV bulb's wires to the PCB or sth (behind the spido block).
- 3gee ;)

(If you think a how-to with pics would be neccessary......I can write it when I'm gonna do rev 1.1)

ok..when i unzip the file and open it.. and i want to print it, how do i scale it down to the correct size??? cuz the thing is huge when i print it out?

A20A1
06-04-2003, 12:37 PM
you set the printer to the same resolution as the file..

I think

rehv_Aerodeck86
06-04-2003, 02:25 PM
when i opened it with m$ Word, it was HUGE. try photoshop, i had to change nothing

so your telling me, that you replace the bulbs and color on the paper with neon markers? LOL and it looks professional.... ? :wtf: im so confused! :( what is the best kind of paper? only thing i dont like about having a 3rd gen is that it seems to me like you hafta do everything yourself. I think it's cool but in a way i am a perfectionist so I suppose I wont be satisfied. anyway

Nice work :D:super:

rehv_Aerodeck86
06-26-2003, 07:31 AM
thx man. this is what i like about 3gen - u have to do almost everything yourself..custom rulez :D
u can be sure that if u make sth, nobody has exactly the same thing.

if i did this, could i just use the stock gauges and would it show through? BTW I know of a GREAT place to buy Cold Cathodes in the USA. IT's a computer store, but they are CHEAP! And bright, not to mention you can have two on the same inverter, or what ever it's called.

I don't understand fuzzy, could you explain that perhaps a bit clearer? I suppose I missed something before your post but couldn't find it... What would a cold cathod be?

rehv_Aerodeck86
07-26-2003, 11:43 PM
a cold cathode would look like a neon light tube ..

hexus.net:

"..add some cool case lighting inside. This can be done by either using Neon lights, LED's or Cold Cathodes. The majority of modders use cold cathodes as they give off very little heat and are very bright illuminating the inside of the PC"

I have it done on one of my PC's. It's a method of light that doesn't have the interference patterns that a neon does and I do believe takes less power to run. But what I am asking is that do i have to put custom "cut-out" gauges on there, or can i just use the stock gauges, and will the light come through?

rehv_Aerodeck86
07-28-2003, 01:42 AM
point is that u put the UV -bulb (or cold cathode) ABOVE the gauges (1. u cant fit the bulb behind the gauges, maybe leds only 2. stock gauges do not glow at all under UV light). so yes, i'd reccomend the cut-outs (u can also choose the font u like best, eh? :)

A few Q?'s

I'm going to test out everything under a UV before I try this, but would you be able to let us know what brand of pen you used? I really like the colours you have.

Thanks yo!
