Hey guys has anyone done this swap before? I think it would be just about the same as a b18c1 in these cars. Wickedaccord can you post some info on any problems you had while doing this swap?

Dude all B-series swaps require the same setup.. The swaping the motor is the easy part.. The hardest part is the wiring. Our Cars are "PRE OBD" and the B18C-R is OBD-2..U must convert the engine either to PRE-OBD or OBD-1.. OBD-1 is ur best bet.. B18c5 is USDM.. B18CR is JDM..It also has a Hydro Tranny.. Which u can't use unless u convert to Hydro.. Right now we can only JDM B16a Tranny & 2gen B18 Tranny..

here's a post that i posted a month ago. matt is right about the typeR motor. it's the same staking problem as any b18c1 swap.

http://www.jdmpower.net/home.html the b18c5 is the engine i am talking about right there, but it is possible to convert to a hydrolic transmission right? I probably would have to find a donor car to yank out the parts though...

why convert to OBD1 or 2... just use parts from a 1st gen B16A (like the ECU and stuff like that)
The distributor can also be used... just a little tweaking here and there.

converting to OBD-1 is just as easy & better.. wicked keeps burning Distributors & Map sensors with his current "PRE-OBD set up..

this is very true. ive burnt 4 distributors and 2 map sensors. as of now im using a rebuilt distributor. so far so good.
but doing obd0 is the easiest if u want to save urself some money. otherwise, going obd1 would actually give u a little more hp than obd0...... atleast that's wat i was told by ERICK AGUILAR of ERICK'S RACING.
in the end.. IT'S ALL WAT U WANT AND HOW MUCH U R WILLING TO SPEND
ps. ive read a conversion kit made for hydro tranny to cable made by hasport.. recently in the HONDA TUNING MAGAZINE

ok for the b18c5 engine, can i keep obd2 on it? I mean i have no problem getting the extra parts needed for it, so i need to know what this all involves.

Dude all the info u need was posted by Carot, Wicked & myself.. Either "PRE-OBD or OBD-1.. nobody does OBD-2 it sucks...If I were u, instead of buying a B18c5, just by a B18c1 or B16 and change the internals... 4000 seems a lil 2 much for a head that comes with a mild port and polished from factory.. Note only 97 Type-r was hand ported & polished.. he rest were done by a machine.. Also don;t take this thw wrong way, but u mentioned that u have no problems getting the parts AKA "The Money" Dude u own an Accord, so before u get involved in something get the info first.. The swap is expensive & that motor costs an arm & a leg.. we are talking about 10k just to have that engine performing well, cause a stock type-r aint sh*t

Well all i am doing is trying to figure out what this swap takes. Thank you for the information about the engine, and how i can get it to run. I might just turbo my a20a3 to end up with the same power numbers if not more with 8-10psi. I have plenty of money in the bank about 10k dollars i had saved up for college, but my grandparents said they would pay all of it for me if i went, so i can spend that. I have stocks and bonds worth around 3-5k dollars i can use anytime. My friends tell me to buy a new car, but i love the 3gee a lot and dont really feel like paying tons more a month to have a sports car. I like the idea of sleeper cars, they toast ya when you least expect it.

i never said i wanted to go to strips. I am into driving fast, not racing anyone really. And last time i went to the strip with my dad, we saw a 1967 vw beetle run a 10 and the car looked completely stock except for a very nice custom paint job.

If u consider that car a sleeper than u have alot to learn.. He was there for a reason.. Anyhow... do ur research before u swap

I thought a sleeper was a car that nobody thought was fast, but all the sudden kicked his opponents ass big time.

That works on the highway.. but on the strip it wont fly.. street racers all know each other in one way or another.. So ppl know if u run hard or not.

Dude, i dont care what this other dick says, go for the swap! u have the money, and 3geez are nice cars so the swap is definately worth it for you. I know a guy selling one for $6600 Canadian, and i beleive that is with the ecu, wiring harness, and tanny. I would say that is really worth it, especially cuz with just an exaust you can probably get about 180hp at the wheels. Import Tuner got 188hp at the wheels with that engine in a 97 civic with just an exaust.

210 hp to the flywheel is not bad, so 180 or so to the wheels stock is about right.
