Flowmaster 40,50 or 60 series???

OK, I've read through the searched threads on Flowmaster mufflers but I still can't find the answer I'm looking for....... I'm going to get a Flowmaster because I've heard that they don't produce a lot of noise inside the car and that's the most important thing to me....... So all I need to know is which one is the quietist???

well according to their website 50 series muffler has less interior noice, but it has more outside noise.
they recomend the 50 series muffler for our cars, even so you can get 40 or 60 series mufflers. i would say go with eather 50 or 60 series mufflers.
i like 60 series mufflers. they have a little more interior noise but they have a lot less exterior noice than 50 series muffler.

i like 60 series muffler a little better.
it should bring less attention to your car.

Yeah, I was peeping that this morning but I was wondering if anyone had experienced the two first hand....... I think I might go with the 50 series because I'm more concerned about cabin noise then exterior noise...... My 19mth. old daughter will thank me for it........:D

I have/had flowmaster 3 chambers (50 series) for all of the Accords (86/88/90). The 60 series costs roughly double (atleast in Canada)which I don't think is justifed and the 40 series is too noisy/raunchy.

So what's your honest opinion of the 50 series??? Inside the car was it relatively quiet???

if you are worried about noise get a long resonator

I say get a reguler straight through oval or round can muffler with a good resonator after the cat. Thats probably the quietest your going to get with a performance exhaust.

The flowmasters dont tuck into the space under the car and have a hanging to low look. Honestly I've never liked the way they looked on any Hondas.

I have Dynomax superturbo muffler. it makes very little inside noise. Ask original2K he knows, he drove my car.

For my opinion, it's just right. I didn't want it too noisy as well n the inside because I get alot of calls on my cell for work related stuff and it's annoying when you can't hear anything. On the Accord, it gives a nice low tone, cheap, and I can finish it with a nice chrome tip of my choice which is why I have gone with it for all 3 Accords.

Thanks a lot guys, everyones been a big help with making this decision and I think I might go with the resonator plus the Flowmaster muffler...... As for it maybe not looking that hot, I have a great exhaust guy that does wonders with getting something to look perfect........:D

I'd recommend running a resonator (glasspack) that is a size longer than the stock resonator. When I did my Dynomax system, I kept the stock resonator. I should have installed a aftermarket one that was a bit longer. I did have allot of booming inside from 1500 to 2500. A longer resonator would have quitted it down. Btw, I did think that while the Dynomax was close to the sound of the flowmaster, I think the flowmaster was a bit better sounding.

See since I'm still using my Pacesetter tubing, it doesn't have a resonator so basically my system is wide open!!!:lol But I just can't stand all of that noise anymore so I'll do like you say and get the resonator and quieter muffler put on......

I have the 50 series muffler. It was the first performance mod I did. I did notice quite a difference in performance.
It is a alot quieter than what is out on the streets. The sound is really mellow. (yes I had someone drive it while I was outside listening) Cabin bay is nice not very loud.

Those round pipe mufflers are ALOT louder than flowmasters on our cars-even with a resonator I still believe it would be louder.

I know that they won't quiet things down as much as the flowmaster.

My only issue with the flowmaster mufflers is appearance wise they always look like they're hanging to low under the car, other than that they are good mufflers.

I was mentioning it cause he could be like me and want everything perfect. I wanted to toss out that bit of info.

You won't be disappointed, I liked my Flowmaster 50 series w/deltaflow on my 87 Accord. The interior noise was low even at highway speeds and the sound from outside the car was a low grunty type which I really liked.

I talked to a Flowmaster sales rep. and he told me that the 60 series was designed for 4 and 6 cylinder engines and are made for Imports.

Yea that should be a good muffler. The 50 and 60 or the best and the 40 sounf like crap. They make an annoying rattle sound that drove me and everyone else crazy.

Well I've had it with my current setup. I have a straight pipe and Bomber series muffler. Had the setup for a year and I have constant headaches now and it makes my exhaust pipes rattle for some reason. I can't find any flowmaster 60's on ebay but I found a bunch of dynomax mufflers. I will need one for the prelude and one for the accord. But I will buy one for the accord for now. I just don't want to annoy my neighbors anymore by the rattling and room room room in the mornings. I goto work at 4am and then goto school so yeah they have put up with a lot.

Yea that is why I'm putting more insulation in my car, so I can keep my loud ass exhaust outside and let everyone else go death. :)

What kind of muffler?
