tokico's installed

Hey everybody I just got my front tokico struts from NOPI and they work great! I here a lot of people dissin them but I noticed a great improvement. My rear struts are pretty bad, do they have a big impact on cornering if they are shot?

They shouldn't get dished when they get used where they can handle things,..................STOCK SPRINGS. They do not have the power to handle stiffer lowering springs. Again on stock springs, I would think a person would be happy. If your claiming to be happy with them on lowering springs, I'll tell ya right now, their's a number of things your missing or not paying attention to. I'll reserve further comment until I know if you have stock springs or lowering springs.

Since you thing the rears are shot to, go ahead and replace them do. It does make a differance.

i have coilover's and i was goin to get tokico struts so what your sayin is that i shouldn't?? How much are Koni's???

Oh heck no, coilover are even harder for weak struts to tame. You'll get a bunch of bounce and the car will ride and drive like crap with tokico's. Koni's would be the way to go (providing you didn't get those insane stiff dropzone coilovers, then you should go even stiffer, but still consider the Koni's as the MINIMUM way to go).

Because they do not have the stiffness in them to control stiffer springs. They let the springs do thing they should not let them do, it is a control issue. They can't even properly control the softest lowering spring that's made for the 3g, all the other spirngs and coilovers are stiffer and it's just going to be worse.

I had the Bilstein's. They are no better than the tokico's. I too tried them with the softest lowering springs avaliable for the 3g. The only way Bilstein H.D.'s should be used on a lowered car, is if you plan to revalve them. (*see note below). As soon as I was able to afford new koni's, I replaced the bilsteins. I wasted my money on the wrong struts, I made the wrong choice, the things I say and do giving advice are based on not wanting you guys to waste your time and money making the same bad choice's I mistakenly did. But no one that knew better was around to say "hey don't do that, that's not what you need, that's a bad choice". I am that voice, don't settle for the wrong choice, you and your car deserve better.

*(About the revalved Bilsteins)
As I said above, I pulled the Bilsteins off the car shortly after I bought them and replaced them with Koni's. Night and day differance, way better. Latter on, I discovered that I could send the Bilsteins back to Bilstein to be revalved stiffer. I did this since I planned on getting Ground-control coilovers with stiffer than standard springs in them. I installed them on my car to test them. If they worked, I was going to order the Ground-Controls. Revalved, the Bilsteins were also night and day better than before. Gone, were all the things that happen when you run weak struts. They performed better than the koni's did, you could tell that your extra money was well spend, which is not a feeling you get with just any part you spend money on and add to your car. They are worth the extra money.

Let me say this about your car's suspension. If you just don't care, if your all about show and not about trying to keep the ride as good as honda would do a lowered sports suspension from the factory, it really doesn't matter. Honda would NEVER install a strut as weak as the Tokico H.P.'s, Bilstein H.D.'s or KYB GR-2's, on a car with stiffer springs, they'd fire the guy that did on the spot.

so after reading the info on revalvin it seems that it will be more expensive total then the koni's. Jim since you good at this, if i get ground controls coilovers, whats better for me in your opinion, bilstein revalved or koni's

Are they really that bad? Will they have a shorter life than OEM struts?

They will probably outlast OEM struts, but they will still wear out much earlier than a properly matched damper would.

Yes, change the rear too.I intalled a set of Tokiko 12 years ago ,it still work great!I also added sway bars,use the stock springs,I think this combination give you the most comfortabe ride while improve handling greatly.

Tokicos should work very well with stock springs. You hear a lot of bad things about them because people try to use them with stiffer, shorter springs that they weren't designed for.

Replacing the rear struts should improve how the car handles over bumps and in turns.
