Would this be worth putting in my car? I can get the whole car for dirt cheap......I would put the motor in my car and part out the rest. But if the motor wouldn't be good for my car then I wouldn't wanna bother buying it.

I guess so.. You still need mounts , axles, etc.. engine has some potential , plus lots more bolt ons than an a20

b18's are good motors. But like Matt said, it will take much more than just the motor to get it to fit into the 3G. But once you do it, it will be so worth it.

Alright. **starting to get even more serious** Where would I get these axles from? I couldn't use the ones from the car? And I know about the motor mounts, that's not a problem. Swapping the motor would be easy for me, my cousin owns a body shop. What else would I need?

so I'd be looking at spending $1500 just for parts to get the motor to work for me? And the harness for the B16, that would work for the B18?

B16 Is vtec B18a is non-vtec..u can make a harness using ur current a20 harness & the b18a harness..

Is there anything else that you listed that I would not need to buy? What can I use from the two cars combined instead of buying new shit?

take what ever u can.. complete swap.. u can always sell or trade the spare parts.. But u keep the ecu , engine.. i dont remember exactly, But if the tranny is cable than u need that. Ur going to need to buy the Axles, Shift Rod & Mounts.. The wire harness is ur choice... Ur going to need ur a20 harness & B18a harness. But if u know a shop or a friend that can do the wire harness conversion, than u wont need to pay place racing to do it for you.. those are the pics of the shift rod

Well if I buy this I'm gonna get the whole car, so I'll get the motor, ecu, tranny, everything! My cousin can do the wiring of the harnesses for me, so I can save there. I guess I'm gonna go and buy me a car next weekend. :)
Thanx for the help man, anything else that anybody can think of?

Pay like $50 for it :D just tell them that the welds on the intake manifold are blown ;) or say that it's only good for small parts. Make it seem like the engine is crap and that it's broken and won't work. hehehe then you can get the good deal.

Another question.....can that motor bolt up to my stock tranny or would I have to use the B series tranny?

Demolition Derby? rolled it, and then they took it to their house and crashed into it with their truck, kicked it, hit it and all kinds of fun stuff lol

and I went out to talk to the guy that owns it now and he already sold the interior and a few other parts so I'm just going to buy the motor and tranny. I paid $200 for it....

NO NO NO.... You can use any B-Series CABLE tranny you want. It is just that there is a difference in the clutch between the 88-91 and the 92+. Otherwise they all bolt up the same. Now what Mike was talking about is that you need a wire harness. You can do 2 things here. 1) convert the engine to OBD-0 which is the easiest. To do this you need a B18A1 90-91 engine harness, 90-91 distributor, and 90-91 injectors. You then take this B18A1 harness and send it out to Place Racing WITH your A20A3 harness. It comes back and hopefully it all goes smooth. The 2nd thing you could do is keep the engine OBD-1 and send out that harness w/ your A20A3 harness. They then combine them and a pigtail harness to make it OBD-1. This more expensive, but you get to keep all the stuff you have already. Also, OBD-1 setups usually make more HP because they have tunable computers and can be used with stuff like Hondata and the AEM EMS. The choice is up to you. The nice part is you would have the WHOLE car so getting the right bolts and shit wouldnt be bad. For example, you will need the rear mount bracket and the driver side engine mount for the swap. Another plus is that you have tranny and ECU already. If you can get the car cheap enough, I say go for it.

Ok, you guys are saying I need all of this 90-91 stuff, but the car is a 92.

You can only use 90-91 motor brackets,.. he said he has a 92. Not many B series Cable tranny's JDM B16a, B17, B18a

that is impossible. the 92-93 is the SAME engine and chassis. Ehh whatever i guess I have the right ones.

If I get the mounts from the integra, would I still have to buy the motor mount kit for like $500?

Yes. The only mounts from the Teg that you are using is the rear mount bracket #11

AND the driver side engine mount bracket #8

Honestly, if you are selling your teg for job reasons, then i would not even do a swap like this until you get the job sorted out because this is a much more expensive swap than doing something to the Teg. Just my opinion.

oh well only real reason is because of the teg being an auto and after me having to walk buy it everyday ive really grown tired of it, and the 5 speed swap is impossible for me to do on my own, so i had decided to go after a dsm, but they dont seem to be the most reliable car, so i figrured id go for a 3gee and hopefully with boltons a 5 spd can hit 15's with a dent driver and minimal weight reduction..

You're right Steve; they are the same. The only thing that changes is the tranny. The 90-91 teg tranny's shaft is a tip thiner than the 92-93 and TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! :D But, mounts, chassis are the same. Oh and the 92-93 head a a little bit different, thats why of the 10 hp increase from the 90-91. So ............ There are my 2 cents :D

Why do I need a shift rod if I need a cable tranny? I thought the two are for different trannys. I thought that the shift rod used a rod to switch gears and the cable tranny used a cable, so why would I need a shift rod for a cable tranny?

there are two types of trannies:
1) cable actuated clutch trannies
2) hydrolic actuated clutch trannies

Both of these set ups use shift rods to change the gears. The difference is how the clutch is engaged.
