Does anyone know how different this engine (b20 shortblock) is from the JDM b20 we are looking at? It is certainly a newer one, and these guys certainly milk its potential. To my knowledge, the JDM b20 has the same stock bore and same floating piston setup, same non-VTEC build (built non-VTEC that is by these guys), and this CRV's shortblock uses a lot of GSR/ITR parts....

how much different would a project with a JDM b20 go than this guy's (READ THE WHOLE THING... actually RIDICULOUS how much this guy does to naturally aspirate ridiculous amounts of power and rpm from this b20)...

I want this engine. 300whp NA.... drooool....

how much harder would this be to transplant... esp. if the tranny were way different from the JDM (the CRV tranny I'm imagining wouldn't look anything like an Accord one... am I wrong?)

what do you guys think of this shortblock? Looks like you can find them cheap from wrecked CRV's ,lol

thanks. (I posted this also on the other B20 buying post)

well, it will be as hard as dropping B16 or B18. i am sure this engine a little bigger too so it will need some fabrication.

at least its not an H22 drop. Seems that b20's are picking up big. i guess a lot of people are crashing CRV's and a lot of tuners are using em lol

The B20B and B20A aren't the same engines.. don't you guys read a of engine specs??

The B20B has a 84 mm bore while the B20A has a 81 mm bore They are both 2.0L engines, so their stroke will also be different. The B20B has a 89 mm stroke while the B20A has 95 mm (that's real high) The JDM B18A has 89 mm tough.

The ITR pistons cannot be used in a B20B but can be used in a B20A. You could add a Vtec head on a B20B if you change the pistons. The B20A can also have a Vtec head (YES it can) However, you need to modify the head quite a lot. The bolts don't like up perfercly nor the oil and coolant passages.

The high stroke of the B20A will impair your ability to rev the engine real high. Even the H22A has a stroke of 90.5mm and cannot rev to 9000

The B20A looks alot like the H23A engine (or it's JDM counterpart, the F22B)

They share the same stroke (95mm) but their bore is different (87mm for the H23, 85mm for the F22B and 81mm for the B20A). All those engines even share the same connecting rods :)

People that have put Vtec heads on their H23A all suffered from bottom end breakdown.

Even the JDM H23A Vtec from the Accord Wagon Does not REv high. It's basicaly a USDM H23A with a Vtec head. It's Max power is rated à 6800 RPM. It's not THAT high huh? It still makes 200 hp.

If you want a reliable B20A, you will have to focus on the bottom end. Making the bottom end as balanced as it can be..

basically the B20B and B20Z blocks are new ones based on the B16/18 blocks, they're bigger bore, shorter stroke, you can bolt integra intake manifolds and trannies to it, hell maybe even the heads, good potential I think. You can always turbo it too if you get bored with it and hook up the AWD :super:

The B20b/B20z is a B18B engine with bigger sleeves... that's it
