my friend just bought an 89 accord lx sedan with 126k on it for 325 bucks (i'm jealous). however it clicks when going around corners, i'm assuming it's cv joints. the only problem is that i have never done cv joints before, so i need to know a few things. i didn't see how to replace them in the haynes manual, just how to overhaul them. is it worth overhauling or should i just replace them? and i only saw half shafts on the internet is that what i replace? how do i do it? anyother info you might want to add would be appreciated. i also need to know what size the wheel hub nut is. my 94 is a 36mm and that's huge compaired to this one so i have no idea.

if the c.v's and boots are ok on the parts car, just use them

ok. i just looked them up at advance auto (i read the posts about not buying them, but it's very low budget) and i can't figure out which is the replacment driveshaft. it couldn't possibly be the one that is 59.99. if someone could figure that out for me and give me the part number so i can look it up i'd really appreciate it.

also, how do you ge the fork thing for the shock out, the bolt seems to be stuck. the other side came out just fine. any ticks?

i was lucky to find my 89 lxi coupe for $300 w. 139k with an auto tranny. (prefer stick but couldnt pass on the price) i have the same problem but with both sides making the clicking sound. after shopping around, i decided to try the remanufactured pair of cv joints at advance auto for $59 each. here is a pic of the set i bought today w. part # labels on the boxes. hope this helps.

c.a.p. is a local autoparts store. it stands for consumer autoparts. it's a limited lifetime warranty. not sure what it's limited to but as long as they last a couple years it's all good.

2 years ago when i had the CVs changed on my civic, my mechanic gave me a cheap set of used ones... now one needs to be replaced already... i imagine these remanufactured ones should last me longer than that, i hope

if i had a second car like meohmy01 does, id change them myself for free, as long as they look ok

ok i just noticed that the halfshafts on my parts car are fairly recent so i was just wondering what good price would be to sell them to my friend for.

ok. well i have one more question that i hope someone can answer for me. after you drain the oil from my tranny, how do i put it back in? and i know i have seen thiis before on the board but while you're answering this question what do i put back in it? the oil that came out of it had kind of a blue hue to it.
