Hey, damn ive been looking for a site for 3rd gen hondas for a while. im glad i found this one. i dont have much experience with motors and i was wondering what some quick ways to gainsome hp would be. i can spend up to about 500 total. besides exaust i need something to boost my 88 accord lx, thanks for your time. oh yeah and what exaust would be the best for me to buy, full cat back or no cat?

Welcome to the board. Where in northern california are you from?

I've got a resonator back system. I noticed a slight increase in power. You've got emissions test to I don't know about removing the cat. I guess you could just buy a strait test pipe to replace the cat and put it back when you need to pass the test. I noticed a much bigger increase in power when I added a header to the exhaust mods.

Again, where in nor cal are you from?:smokin:

If you are startin the the exhaust first, might as well do a port and polish while you are at it :smokin: Welcome to the board man

Don't you need a CAT in CAL?

yeah, you need a catalytic converter when you pulled over by a CHP for your exhaust being too loud or smoky, and when you get your car smogged.

otherwise, folks bend the rules like day old mcdonalds french fries.

also, if you have a V8, and you wanna have a -true- dual exhaust, that is, an exhaust system for each bank, you're SOL, because CA requires all exhaust come down to a Y with a single Cat, no dual cats allowed....

it sux.

since you're carbed, get a weber carburator or get your camshaft reground... both of these respond well to other mods like higher compression, headers, the exhaust you are talkin about... either are an all-around good idea, but someone else might say otherwise...

if ya want to go cheap, you can flip the airbox cover so the inside is showing... some say this has the same effect as a CAI to an injected engine

welcome to the board... most of us are happy to explain any questions you have about your car
