Okay, my car is running fine and the fuel filter was changed a couple years ago. When I first start it up, it dies UNLESS I hit the gas. It acts like the older carbs where you had to give them gas or they would go low idle, then die. Even if I am at the store and come out and start it, it still will die at first. Once it picks up on the idle, it doesn't die at stoplights or whatever. Hmmm... I thought it might be the fuel pump at first because it is a little sluggish off the line. Not horrible, just not instant. Once I'm up to speed, it's all good though. Ideas??

Check the fast idle valve at the back of the intake manifold. Remove it and clean it toroughly with penetration oil.

It's FI, but just "acts" like it's carbed at startup.
