Back seat arm rest compartment

U know the compartment in the back seat right on the arm rest thingy? it opens up and u can stick shit in it!


My ? is- is there anyway to take that out? I want to paint it and i want to do it right!

I did a bit of work and made a cutout for a Motorola cellphone handset in the armrest. It's the old bagphone version and unfortunately I lost mine :( Although it's analog, there are a few... let's call them "neat features" that phone is capable of. ;)
