Hey guys, just wanting to know if the accord 1.8l intake manifold will fit on the prelude 1.8l motor.
I have an '86 lude and i am asking because i am looking for options for carb swaps besides the dual DCOE swap (which i have;) ). I am just trying to find alternatives for luders on a budjet since the DCOE swap is so expensive.
My idea was, accord manifold from the wreckers, then the accord weber 32/36 swapp put into a prelude.
Do you guys think a gain would be seen with this setup over the stock dual prelude carbs???
Thanks

ok go here http://www.twminduction.com/Home/Home-FR.html
this company makes intake manifold for prelude head.
it will accept dual sidedrafters.

The 1.8l accord motors are ES2s. That intake should fit the 84 lude which has an ES1 motor, but wont fit the later ludes with the ET1.

I said i ALREADY HAVE the DCOE swap.:stick:
Hehehe.
Hmmm ok, any other accord motors that will fit a manifold on the prelude??
Why won't that manifold fit on the ET2. The ES1 bolt pattern is the same, the mani just has extra intake ports for the CVCCC system.

If you take a look at the manifold pictures on the twm site that shep posted you'll see the flanges have a diferent shape on the bottom. http://www.twminduction.com/Catalogs/Catalogs.pdfs/InletManifolds.pdf on page 5. Thats what I'm basing this on as I've never had an ET manifold off, only the ES accord. I don't think the weber down draft is going to net much more horse power then then dual kehins anyway. I'd look into useing some street bike carbs or something. Those kehins have some small throttle plates in them, you can probably find some bike carbs that are a tad bigger.

Hmmm, thats a pretty good sugestion. I guess any SU type carb that fits on the prelude manifold will work.
By the way, how to you like your DCOE's?? I put mine (40 DCOE's) on last October they make the lude pull much harder and they sound awsome. What setup are you running with them? Is you motor stock or modded??

Funky -

I know you already have a dual carb set up, but if you know any 2g lude owners that want the TWM carb and manfiold I have a set that I am trying to get rid of. let me know

Can you swap the A20A3 into the 86?
well thats not what's going on is it... sorry reread the post.

uhh... for a 1.8 liter I guess the 32/36 is nice, maybe a 38... but the CFM ratings I've listed in the carb tech section that I've collected from various sites, set the average CFM for the 38 at about 378 CFM

I uped my carbs from 40 to 45 over the winter. I'm using an a20a3 motor pulled from an 88 LX-i accord. No one makes a manifold for it so I had to make custom one for mine. Other then that the car has a re-reground cam, headers, exhaust, and a hybrid integra/prelude/accord transmission. The damn thing keeps breaking down ever since I put the new carbs on it so I've yet to run it with them. With the 40's and crappy old tires it was running 15.9 @ 86.

yes, that motor will bolt right up to a lude. You can use that 2.0l bottom end with a 1.8l et head (1.8l head design is better for flow than a 2.0l head) and then use the DCOE setup. That is future plan of mine.

Thanks for the info, Ill check out the carb tech section.

Thant sounds sweet man, did you know that a little head work will go a long long way with your setup?, with that a20 and webers, you sould be able to get a good 170-180hp out of it with a simple port job and 3 angle valve job

Yeah, I've got a head sitting in the garage that I've been meaning to do something with. There are plenty of things wrong with that car right now that arn't head related though and its just sitting for the time being. I like the car, dont get me wrong, but it needs some major frame work and I have to build some custom strut housings if I want to get some inserts that can handle the springs I have on there. Besides I'm trying to finish the turbo setup on nova and thats consuming most of my free time/money right now.

Ahhh yes, more than one project on the go. I know what thats like, I wish money wasn't so hard to come buy:( I also have a 1970 dodge Charger that needs some TLC.
Turbo Nova sounds cool, is this an old style nova???
