First of all...
Hi...
My first post here īcoz I just discovered this forum..

Im thinking of buying an Accord Aerodeck with the A20A4 engine in it īcoz I like their style and they are pretty rare here in Sweden..
But my question is this...

Are there any other engines that is a direct fit? I mean like bolt-on in the engine bay...
Or does all engine-swaps for this model require new engine-mounts and a lot of $$$$?

Im only intrested in swaping in an engine with more power than the A20A4...

Edit: I just discovered that you donīt have the A4 in the U.S..
Just the A3...
Here is a link to engine-spec of seweral motors mounted in the Aerodeck..

The B20A from the Accord 2.0i16 will bolt without modifications to the engine mounts.

This model is widely available in Europe.

I think the b20a3 or b20a5 makes 127hp but I'm not sure. maybe that was the b21a1

Hmm...
The A20A4 puts out 122hp...
So then the changing would just be a waste of money...

possibly but i believe b20 is dohc. i've never seen an a20a4 unless thats the aerodeck engine. paul has an aerodeck but i think it came with a b series engine.

So what is the difference between SOHC and DOHC then?
I know that DOHC means double..
But in performance I mean?

What is the gain of a DOHC compared with a SOCH-engine?

With DOHC you get an extra valve per cylinder... which means more air and fuel. and the more air and fuel you have the more power you have.

But the difference between the engines is 5hp...
Is there any other engine with a bigger hp output?

I thought the B20 had 160 HP... thats not a 5 HP diference.

The European B20A is rated at 135 HP. It can be easily boosted to match the 160 HP that the Japanese version gives.

The only difference that I see between the JDM and European version is the ECU that is used. The camshafts can also be different. This is something really easy to overcome

By swapping the B20A you would get a 16 valves engine (compared to a 12 valves) and the extra camshaft. The B20A head has a better design performance wise.

Thx Carot..

Hmm... Now I just got to sort out which motor we have here in Sweden..
Saw a B20A8... Wonder which one that is..

The B20A8 is the engine out of a CA5 2.0i16 Accord

And itīs the DOHC 135hp engine that fits bolt-on?

Anyother engine which fits easily?
I mean with no greater rebuiltment of the enginebay..
Okey, a engine moúnt or two I could fix, but nothing bigger then that..

so here in the US... basically what engine can be used without any change/modifications in the mountings?

lol, you've got slim pickings in the us. the euro b20 is still the only quick and easy swap you can do. everything else you need mounts and maybe even custom shit.
