My 3g's air box has this little plasic piece right in front of the air intake tube. Two questions: If I remove this will it help gain any horsepower? What exactly did the japanese gods intend for this piece to do?

I think you're talking about the resonator. It quiet downs the intake charge. You won't gain anything but noise if you take it out.

no hes not refering to the silencer for the Air suction valve...

There is a little curved plastic bit with a rib across the center...
My only assumption is that it evens out the filtration... cause if it wasn't there you'd get this big smudge of black dust and dirt in that one corner of the filter without the rest of the filter ever getting that dirty.

you're depleteing the O-Zone... and killing flying squirles. and melting the ice caps. and getting the children of the world high on your noxious fumes. and and and... kept your cat from getting a breath of fresh air below 3000 rpms.

I want to be a honda engineer too!!! :lol

That was some top notch thinking though. I was going to say same thing after thinking about it but you got there first. When I had the airbox on I took it off.

I took that thing off ages ago when I first opened the airbox.

Yeah. This 'mod' if you will, will not add any noticable pick up or anything if that is what your intentions are. It will simply make your engine yell a little louder at higher rotations per minute. I recommend keeping it on. It will keep the air flow in order and yes, it will keep your filter cleaner. That smudge will definately take effect soon if you don't.

but that's too much buzzing
the engine sound's real quite without it.
and prevent my cat from getting fresh air . . . . . . but is'nt that being pumped into the air cleaner ?
