I have an auto and it is crapping out but I don't really have time for a 5 speed swap, could I put an auto prelude tranny in easily or ne others?

It's called doing a search... there are tons of threads about this. Example:

A slight differance in words would have still gotten you point across and not make you look as harsh. But I'm glad to see you posted the results of the search.

An 87 prelude tranny will work, I have an auto as well, with 256,000 miles, I'm in your same boat, I think the lude tranny bolts right up. In my opinion, Why do other 3 geez people have to be an ass. PM me if any questions.

I think that thread pertains to manual trannies he's got an auto. I just posted the same question in my own thread didn't even see yours http://www.3geez.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19819 I'm worried that the manual and auto may be different stories. I havn't talked to anyone or read anything about using the auto from a prelude.

With an automatic transmission it has to be an F4, just like the fuel injected automatic or manual 1984-1987 Predule as my Hayne Manual says, "DRIVETRAIN" PAGE (7-13) I guess an automatic or manual transmission will work. Makes sense to me. Do a 5 speed swap with a lude tranny.

I was thinking about the 5 speed swap but I've never driven manual and I don't have the time or money to spend on it. Also I want to get this done as soon as possible. So I can use an auto out of an 86-89 accord or an auto out of an 84-87 lude?

Wouldnt swapping trannies like that also effect shift points? Like do you need to change the ECU?

No flaming plz cuz im not a flamer :lol

I don't think so, the tranny is controlled by vaccuum not the ECU, right?

I'm not sure, but probably the computer.

The computer doesnt touch it, its full automatic hydraulic valvebody inside these trannies. I think you can use Lude Si Auto 86-87 but the carb ones dont fit i believe.

True the tranny is hydraulic so I don't think you would have to switch ecu's. The shift points really wouldn't matter in that case.
