I painted my tail lights Blue :D

well i decided to pull off a project at first i went to the a hobby store nearby (Michaels) and i asked if they had Testors Candy Apple Red paint, they said they didnt have it in stock but the did have Blue i said hmm ok i guess i'll take it, here are the pics what u think? (sorry for the crapy pics i'll take more pics and i was busy today :D)

Ummmm......should've waited to get the candy apple red. I think I will do it to mine (candy apple) or (black tint), because it would match my paint beautifully. But at least you tried and if that's what you want go for shit.

It IS illegal to have any running lights on your car that are any color other then red or amber (besides your headlights of course). Its a gray area and cops might not bother you, but thats highly unlikely.

If they dont light up blue you probably wont get as much shit from the cops as you would if they were blue. Blue and red together will get you in DEEP shit. If the cop feels like it, he could bust you for impersonating an officer.

I've seen people get busted for having green windshield sprayer light thingys on.

i know what your saying about the blue but actually those pics make it look way dark then it really is, its lighter blue then that u could still see the yellowish tone behind it, but i will get red paint lol i just needed to see what it looked like and as i can see by your coments it looks like shit lol so im getting red paint and starting over :D

I don't know if the law has changed since my Dad stopped doing MODOT inspections (which was a while ago), but back then the law was this : The only allowed color of lights on the rear of a vehicle are Red Amber and White. But that may have changed but I doubt it. It's not that it dont blink blazin its that it isnt colored right. Im going to check out the DOT law and be back on it.

It depends on if you have red or amber bulbs in the housing. The light coming from your tails/signals has to be either red or amber on the back and amber on the front. Any other color (incl. white) and you run a risk of getting a ticket.

Yah, but I used the tint spray on mine. Still hard to see the blinkers during the day though.

some colors don't mix well with others for instance if you wanted to get orange you would mix yellow and red. So if you had red tails which just about everybody does that doesn't have clears(still haven't found yet) you would spray a mix combo of candy yellow(a transparent color) and a flat yellow with maybe a bit of flake to it. Now you can get a batch of this mixed at any paint store and filled into just about any size rattle can you could imagine I would suggest a flat nozzle on what ever size can you get because it gives more of a easier application for multiple coats. But for other colors get a color wheel and see how they mix and what all colors they make when combined experimentation will probably be the best thing to start out doing when you are just starting to find out what you want.

its hard to tell they are blue in those pics .... they look black ... and i would imagine painting the tail lights any color is illegal ..... even if its red or orange .... i dont think they can be modified at all ....
