I installed new gauges last night. I downloaded Paul's gauges and printed them out on heavy glossy photo paper. I regret the gloss because it's a little distracting for me during the day.. but I'll get used to it. Anyways, I downloaded them, inverted the colors as areodeck did, and in photoshop, I colored my redlines and everything using the fill tool to get the colors I wanted and the shades of everything. Overall, everything turned out very good. The only complaint I have, besides the gloss is that I had to cut the holes big enough to slip around the needle hubs and it's a bit obvious. I'll patch up the white edges with a permanent marker. I'd like to thank Areodeck mainly for the inversion and blacklight idea. Oh, and I painted my bezel black, mainly to get rid of the "unleaded only" written at the bottom. It looks nice though. I may have pictures soon.

I seriously think Matt needs to tone down his attitude. It's discouraging to the newbies, and to me, downright irritating. That picture has been posted too many times. And Matt, you don't have room to talk, I've searched your newbie posts and found you have made your own car parts.

I don't see anything wrong in making your own car parts, so yeah, he can go to the store and spend money if he wants. Save your money for more important things, like rims, springs, and high performace things.

Look at it this way.. "Damn dude.. where'd you get those gauges." I look at him and grin. "I made them." (with thanks to paul)

For sure, my neighbor comes outside while I'm cleaning my car and asks where I bought my gauges, I told him $150 on Ebay and he believed me! :lol He's a little slow, I had to tell him that his talon was a TSI.... he didn't even know where the turbo was....

yah really making your own parts is much more respectable than throwing thousands of dollars worth of bolt ons on your car.

Custom sounds better than "Yoz i got diz shit from Pep boys yo"

I really agree with you on this one. Chill out a bit, Matt. We've all made some part of our 3g's, whether we admit it or not. In addition, you wouldn't do this if 3rdGenFanatic wasn't a newbie. If we want new people to stick around, we can't harass them around every corner. Not tryin to be mean to you, but just chill a bit.

In regards to the guages...PICS!!!! :D I'm excited to see some more of Paul's guages out there!!

Oh and Matt... you can look at my signature and see that I'm no newbie. The only thing I paid to have done to my car was the machine work on the flywheel, which was only 20 bucks because I knew the guy that owned the machine shop and I helped the guy at the exhaust shop run my exhaust because I'm a welder by day and the exhaust specialist was sick. I will take pictures so you may choke on your words Matt. I'm not new. I just don't post 30 times a day. :burn:

And once you think about it, we have to make a lot of parts for our cars, or else we won't have them. We have 1962 Hondas that nobody wants to make parts for. Do they make cold air intakes for our cars? no. Are you gonna diss someone for making one?

with those gauges can you see the lights from the back or do you have to install lights in the front to illuminate them? thats pretty much the only thing thats been keeping me from using his gauges.

You don't want them to shine through the back or you can see the stock numbers behind the paper. I took the lights out of the back and put brand new ones in the top front. They look farkin awesome at night.

Use a paintshop pro program to touch the gauges up to where you want them. I also used an exacto knife and the whole process took me about 5 attempts equaling about 8 hours of work, but they turn out awesome and it's fun!

You can see them on my cardomain site.

i don't get this. why do people care so much about what other people do to their cars. we all have to make or modify almost everything to get what we want on our cars so lets recognize that and leave it alone. even if it is ricey in your oppinion you don't have to go out cruising with that person so if they like it let em do it. and if you have any info that would help, spit it out, otherwise your just a post whore and like talking shit, that's rediculous. sorry to offend anyone but i see this shit on every thread i read and it's starting to get real annoying.

Not to thread crap or anything but, You cant say 'paper gauges are rice' . Whats the defenition of rice? Modding your car that has nothin to do with speed right? WEll then on that note we are all rice because most people do h4's- nothin to do with speed. Most of us get 'true' white face gauges- nothin to do with speed. neons- same. So all in all DONT say anything if you dont know the meaning of the word. Oh, and LETS GET SOME PICS OF THIS.............
