I went to a tuning shop to ask about a CAI for my car, and see if they could do the teg CAI for me... and the guy said, that because of this one tube, as you can see it in the pic below... it is the one that comes off the stock intake towards the radiator... I do not know what it does, but the guy said that because of it, I may not be able to put in a CAI without screwing things up... I don't know if this is true cuz I dont even know what that tube does, so can someone please help me out.. thanks

You dont need to worry about that at all. Thats just something they put in for emissions i believe. If you pull it out, you'll notice that its a 'dead end' tube. The only thing you really need to worry about is the breather hose for the valve cover. I put a short ram on mine and didnt do anything with the breather hose from the VC and nothing happend. You can get breather filters if you want. Just pull out all the stock intake parts and put in the CAI and away you go.

i doubt its for emissions, i believe it to be a resonator to make the engine sound quieter.

That tube looks like a hot air hose... is there some kinda valve between that tube and where it connects to the main intake pipe?

My only guess is it aids in the pre-heating of the car.

Or is the end of that smaller tube sealed.

if the end sealed then Accordepicenter is right about it being a silencer

oh dammit... lol I read NXRacers reply...

yeah it's a silencer for the intake. The carbed accord has a simmilar hose like that.

....

BTW... whats that furry bit in you motor?

i took that little hose off, but mine was about 1/3 the length of yours.

all it seems to do is point downwards as if something was being pushed up, but at its location, its only going to suck in hot air.

I had a short ram on my 3 gee but its dead(blown head gasket amongst other things?)
donyt know if that was the cause or bad luck but I now have my short ram on my corolla but gonna put an air intake on it soon (onm the Corolla)
