Everyone knows about the 3 cheesy bodykits available for the 3rd gen, but this is a shot at compiling all the custom modifed stuff. Post everything from front bumpers to front lips. MY goal is to get all the info on other model honda fitament So EVERYONE knows how much/little moding a front piece takes! My personal interest is in a full front bumper but others dont care for somthing that wild. PLEASE INDICATE TYPE/AMOUNT OF MODIFICATION!

heres my knowledge

-86-9 z24 skirts on 2dr accords
-95 transsport sideskirts on 4drs
-1st gen crx front lip
-1st gen legend/teg front lip ( too short on sides-teg)

 thanks for any help

i had a 99 civic Wings West Avenger front clip. The sides need to be pushed in about 1/2" and a little needs to be cut from the top under the headlights to allow for the headlight up/down movement. Those body kits flex well cause they're poly, not fiberglass. Other then that, it fit almost perfectly. You'll probably need to build some sort of support underneath it to support it better. Welding a couple brackets to the bumper will work fine.

for pics, check out my cardomain site. It may not look so good cause when that picture was taken, it was just sitting on there and it wasnt being held on by anything.

NX Racer: How good is the clearance for that bumper? I know its in the grass but it looks kinda low.

NXRacer
07-09-2003, 11:23 AM
it really depends on how low your car is. Mine is dumped at least 3 inches and there was about 2 inches of clearance from the bottom of the clip to the pavement.

i didnt have too much trouble going in/out of driveways and hitting speedbumps and stuff. Like i said before, you dont have to worry about those as much as some other ones because its poly and has quite a big of give.

didnt military mase use a 90-93 accord black widow kit???

07-09-2003, 12:02 PM
Yea 90-93 Accord bumbers will work and they are not as wide as the Civics, but they are still widder then stock.

NXRacer
07-09-2003, 12:56 PM
The civic bumpers arent any wider then the accord, but the corners that meet up at the fenderwells stuck out for some reason. But all i had to do was push it in slightly and voila! It fit!!

hondamanlxi
07-09-2003, 01:00 PM
so the civic is a better bet? what about older teg/lude/civics?
specificly the 91 hatch? this car is the same width! i got a peice of a civ bumper inverted for a lip!

NXRacer

there isnt a 'better' way. They all fit differently since they werent made for our cars. the reason why i had a civic clip on my car was cause a buddy had it sitting in his garage and i wanted to see if it fit. I'm guessing that a 4th gen accord would fit better, but i've never tried so i dont know for sure.

i'm seriously thinking about putting this on my car.....

*edit* i just got a brain fart and ya'll will probably think i'm smoking crack but i thought i'd mention it.....i was looking on the WW site and saw the kit they have for the MK IV jettas. The front air dam looks like it might fit on our stock bumpers........yes i know this would be almost sacrelidgous(sp) but it might look tight.....

MAN!!!!!!!!!! this is the first time ive ever really paid attetion to bk prices! front clips are $150-$250 fiberglass! ( i dont want glass, but will settle for that cheap!)
Q: dont round civ bumpers look funny on a square car?
Q: Are you saying the 99civ and 4th gen accord kits bolt up? no modding on the mounts?

NXRacer
07-09-2003, 01:24 PM
you'll probably have to drill new holes and make some supports so it dont flap in the wind. just depends on how good of a job you want to do and how good you want it to look. if you have it done professionally, any decent body shop could make it work and make it look good i would imagine.

you probably wont want to put it on like i did......zip ties!!!

hondamanlxi
07-09-2003, 01:39 PM
so that a no to the kit bolting up? i knew the sides would need some help!

NXRacer
07-09-2003, 01:45 PM
no, it wont bolt up perfectly. it fits perfectly, but the 3g accord bumper doesnt really have places to bolt it to.

hondamanlxi
07-09-2003, 02:06 PM
hmmm........... does anything mount up at all? If i could just find one that will bolt to the front frame i could get the rest to work!

ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE OLD LUDES/CIVICS/TEG?

NXRacer
07-09-2003, 02:25 PM
the only kit/s that will mount up without a problem is the ones that are made for our cars. all others will have to be customized to some extent. How much customization depends on what kit you decide to go with.

hondamanlxi
07-09-2003, 02:50 PM
IM AWARE NONE OF THESE ARE GOING TO MOUNT PERFECT! i have known that from the beginning , but i want to know how ppl are get 4th gens mounted!
the only concern i have is getting at least some of it to bolt even if i have to drill holes. The center one is the important one!

Q: how did you get a 99 civ bumper even half way on? all the ones ive seen have the grille b/t the headlamps attached!

Im just gonna get a 4th gen front piece! ill figure out something

ps: we dont have front clip kits....we have ground effect kits ( bolt to stock)

hondamanlxi
07-09-2003, 02:52 PM
my whole intention of this thread was to gather info on modding/frankenstiening pieces onto our cars!

NXRacer
07-09-2003, 02:55 PM
the one i used didnt have the grill, but the grill insert you have to get for them would have work pretty much perfectly. i wish i had closer pics of it so you could see how close it fit. i might be able to get that body kit again and slap in on my car and take closer pics to show you. if you're interested. None of the bolt holes on that clip would have matched except for the to outer ones on the fender wells.

hondamanlxi
07-09-2003, 03:24 PM
I went and looked at my bumper..... i dont see the rods that hold most bumpers up! im i missing them? that would make sense why i couldnt mount the kit!

NXRacer
07-09-2003, 03:28 PM
when i got in a wreck i didnt notice anything really holding the stock bumper on. All there were were like max 8 screws or something. pretty lame engineering if you ask me......

Have you guys seen millitary mases blue accord? Hes got a black widow kit. THE QUESTION IS............is it from a teg or a 4th gen?

hondamanlxi
07-11-2003, 12:34 PM
ALWAYS GOOD TO ANSWER YOUR OWN QUESTIONS!
1) 2nd gen teg front bumper bolts right up!
2) their is a how to on this site for bumper removal!

sorry guys, you would think i was a newbie or something!
i get a tad excited about 3rd gen frankensteining!

PS: im ordering my teg bumper this thurs ( hopefully), im not gonna copy millatary mase's car if i can help it

HostileJava
07-11-2003, 12:45 PM
You mean that the bumper off the teg bolts right onto the accord and then you can get the kits that attach to it?

hondamanlxi
07-11-2003, 03:32 PM
disclaimer: THIS IS ONLY A GUESS

this is aparently the bumper mill. mase has on his. I qoute him "it fits like a glove!"
its only the 90-93 tegs.
my freind has one and the bumper is nearly indentical!

please correct if wrong! what about 4th gen rear bumper?

hondamanlxi

HostileJava
07-16-2003, 05:15 AM
Nobody really knows, I think we're kinda hoping that you answer the question when you get the kit. I would order the Urethane bumper since that's going to be more flexible.

mykwikcoupe
07-16-2003, 05:37 PM
from what ive read, so I have no actual on hand experience. It may fit but there is a difference in body lines so youll notice that your corner markers are going to stick out pats the bumper edge. It might look cool from 20ft but it wont ever "really" fit

here is a company that not too many people know about since its out of Europe. Germany i think. anyway, its Schneider Motorsport.

I cant see any cutouts for the foglights on the urethane kit. But now you mention it i can see they look alot alike. Might be the same then. I just have the pictures on my computer, so i cant remember where the last 2 came from... :stick:

So does this 1999 Honda Civic Body Kit Work? Does it Bolt up? How do you install a body kit on our cars?

NXRacer
07-21-2003, 08:19 AM
to put on any body kit that wasnt specifically made for our cars, there is going to be some fabrication work that needs to be done. Its not hard if you can use your basic power tools, but to have it done right and look the best, i'd suggest you take it to a body shop.

HostileJava
07-21-2003, 08:35 AM
So did you order the kit yet?
