WHat exactly is it that gives the efi more power stock? Is the compression dif? DIf cams?

part of its due to the fact that there is a better a/f mixture. this allows the cylinders to fire better/cleaner/more efficiently. that equals power.

plus the efi cars have *slightly* higher compression

And a different cam too. The exhaust header is only different in the 88 and 89 EFI. They have 4-2-1 design.

Actually the 86-87 EFI has a 8.8:1 Comp ratio, the 86-89 Carb has a 9.0:1 comp ratio.. Even with less compression, the EFI makes more power. It also has the same header design as the carb in 86-87.....

Our stock carbs just suck

in the manual it says that carb is 9.1:1 and FI is 9.3:1

yea it boils down to a restrictive carb, EFI can flow a lot more (bigass t/b and the manifold only flows air, it doesn't need to be shaped funny to mix the fuel right) the efficiency also not really the header or comp.
