Interior part deux

After my g/f and I finished the rear deck, we started on the doors. We stripped the old fabric off the mid section and applied matting for a bit of plush similar to the stock panel. For the fabric we used the same velveteen as on the rear deck.

We're gonna finish off the doors, then go for the pillars and headliner. After that, seats and carpet.

where did you purchase the material and how much?? also how hard is the installation and what behind the old fabric you removed. thanx ... looks real good

The velveteen looks excellent. But now it doesnt match the faded blue interior. Any plans to change the everything out?

The rear deck has been changed, all four doors are being changed out. After that the top pillars and headliner are getting the treatment. The seats will be a black/blue mix and the carpet is probably gonna go black as well. It's a long job that we're doing piece by piece.

The local fabric store. Velveteen is out of season right now so it's pretty cheap. They also supplied the matting, spray adhesive and the obligatory hot glue gun (get a high temp one so the summer heat doesn't liquify the glue).

Behind the old fabric was the matting used for it, basically thin foam that's worn to crap over time. The door panel itself is pressboard.

how did you get the rear deck done? I took mine out to do and when I took the old stuff off the cardboard/whatever riped and got all fuked up...

It looks real good so far. Sounds like an idea for converting some more of my tan/black interior to black, especially the rear panel. Is the rear panel easy to take out w/o breaking all of the clips in the process? I looked at it and was afraid I would break all of them and have no spares so I gave up.

The rear deck does come out without being damaged. The clips take time and patience to remove. Grab a screwdriver and tap them out from the underside. After that, lower the rear seats, take off the rear pillar plastic. Take off the rear brake light and pull out. If ya all the clips, it should come out easily.

The best thing to do is snag yourself a deck out of a DX because they have perforations for the speaker holes in the cardboard, but they're not cut out. So you can make cutouts for your speaks and have a good idea where not to cut, or you can just make holes in that area and mount your speaks underside for a stealth install.

I did all that and when I tryed to pull off the old carpet, the cardbord tryed to come with it...And did you have or just covor over the vent in the back....
