painted tail lights

ok so i got some transparent red paint, now i read on here to use candy read apple. does it really matter what color i use?? is plain old fashioned red ok?is the candy red better looking??? also will any other clear coat werk? i got some testors gloss cote, will that do or does it have to be the krylon stuff?? need answers asap, gonna start tonight and finish it off tomorrow!!

I used krylon candy apple red transparent with a clearcoat. clearcoat is well worth it, some people said bad things about clearcoating but it saves me from having to repaint em' every month and looks great!
