View Full Version : Crazy brake idea (heard of this before?)

Searches in 3geez haven't turned up anything YET, but I will keep looking.

Searches elsewhere on the web (and the AEM Big Brake HOW-TO) have lead me to an odd conclusion: With little modification, we should be able to shoehorn ITR brakes onto the front ends of our cars.

Stop gawking.

I'm not talking about literal ITR brakes, mind you--though that IS a possibility--but ITR calipers (same part # as 1991 Accord Wagon calipers), and 1994 Prelude VTEC rotors redrilled to 4x100. Ha ha! Monster brakes for 3G Accords!

I suspect this because such a combination will bolt onto a 92-95 Civic EX front end with a little grinding for caliper clearance. With some shims the AEM upgrade for the SAME CAR (isn't it 92-95 Civic Si/EX?) will fit our 3Gs. This tells me that the Civic EX/Si calipers, Integra Type R calipers, and 3G Accord DX/LX/LXi/SEi calipers all have the SAME MOUNTING PATTERN but are not the same SIZE.

Time for some junkyard diving, measuring, etc. (once my H22A swap is done).

Am I: Doing the impossible? Coming up with a good idea? Wasting your time?

Hey do the research and let us know. If it is possible, then all of us out there can have bigger stopping power! I will follow your progress.
