Please help me someone! I have the gauges cluster taken apart and I want to what do I do next after I have taken it out, taken the clear cover piece off, and removed the screws?

Print out the custom gauges and put them on. Make sure that you cut the whole out the middle of the custom one and slide them on. The heat/fuel one, I cut small slits from the the needle area to the end so that they would slide on.

If you have any more questions. Just ask.

UMM I have done everything but put them on. I don't know how 2 and the ways to do it... Do they just slide right on the needle and the I screw them on? How do I do it for all of them?

Cut out the center pieces and punch a hole in where the screws go for the tach and the speedometer. Then slide your custom ones on to the needle and down and screw them down. The temp/fuel one is a little different though. From where the needle goes to the end cut a slit so that they slide on each needle.

A problem i had tho is that the paper would stick up a little after left in the car (probley due to heat). You can do two things to prevent this. Instead of cutting directly on the dotted line that goes around the gauge cut around the outside of that so that the bezel holds it down or super glue them to the original gauges (not reversible for obvious reasons).

(The pic is reversed :lol )

Hope this helps cuz i had the same problems.

I think the wrinkling has more to due with humidy than heat. To solve this problem I had a friend I know who does sticker cutting print the gauges in vinyl. Looks awsome and I can always peel it off later.

Osiris, are you saying cut them about 5 16th of a inch bigger so that the plastic thing that is around them can press them down?

Osiris is there a way that you can take yours off and scan them and send them to me? I can't get mine to resize right. I really want these on here cause I love the way that Paul made them...

I just tried with some really crappy gauges that are all messed up and I could not get the gauges to go on it....I would have to cut a bigger hole to get it on the other gauges..

Dont need to. Get them from Pauls site and open them up in Microsoft Photo Editor and change the size to 50%. Should fit perfect then.

I had a problem getting them on the needles too. Just remember the black center area where the whole is will be behind the needle holder. So you can cut it a little larger than the black center area thats provided by Paul.

Yea but you have to have the inward pointing needles for the fuel/temp. Some gauges have outward pointing needles like me.

Photo Editor should be there. I cant really send it cuz it seems to be embedded into Windows. You should have it tho. Right click the image and go to "open with". In that sub-menu you should see MS Photo Editor. If not, right click the image then choose "open with" and then choose "choose program" and find Microsoft Photo Editor in that list somewhere. Let me know what happens.

wprocomp said he had an issue with those gauges not fitting right. you might wanna talk to him about that before buying them.

Once i had the overhead light thats in the gauge cluster disconnected and they look very similar to those, almost identical. Im going to try that and let you guyz know how that turns out.

I have disconnected mine anyways... It took some getting used to but I wanted the digital look on my gauges...I like it.

c20v6turbo3rdgen: you disconnected the light thats on the top part of the cluster? Do you like it?

Justin86
07-15-2003, 05:53 PM
I wouls like to get those but I want the silver backs and ones that come with colored needles. The white needles with a simular background don't do it for me. I'm going to try for a blue background right now.

Osiris

Justin86: I wouldnt get those. Theyre cheap and you can make them yourself. Look at it. The needle isnt lit. All you have to do is disconnect the upper light in the cluster and add a lightbulb color of your choice in the rear.

Hey c20v6turbo3rdgen, good news. I used MS Paint and it printed out the right size no problem. Just open up one of your gauge templates in MS Paint > go to print preview > then print. When you go to print preview the image should look like it will when you print and will be a "normal" size. Try it out and see what happens.

c20v6turbo3rdgen

you didn't resize it all at... If you did what is the size?

Osiris
07-16-2003, 06:48 PM
No, i didnt resize it in MS Paint. Just print it. It looks big in edit mode but when you print it, it should come out right. Try it and see.

Justin86

When installing Paul's gauges, do you just lay them over the top of the stock ones? How does it look at night with the dash lights shining through and are the they readable?

I just layed them over it, yea. But they started to buckle due to heat. Most members said that they glued theres or used double sided tape. I would recommend that. If you use the stock dash lights then they look the same as the black ones but white. To get the full effect you need to install a black light.

Also you can change the colors around in Paint if you have Windows

I did all that and they are a little off and I measured what the size of them are but I can't seem to get this shit right..I am getting really f ing pissed about this... Can someone tell me what the size of the gauges are?

Osiris
07-20-2003, 09:57 AM
Dont know what to tell you. I used MS Paint and they printed exactly the right size. Remember that they only go to the end of the gauge area not to the end of the lip on the gauge.

Justin86
07-21-2003, 07:31 PM
I can't remember the right size but on Microsoft Word or something simular you can get them right. Use the ruler on the side of the page to get them to the right size. The spedo is like 10x10mm and the others are 8x8mm. 1"=2.54mm

What's the deal with all the little dots in the background on these gauges? It's making them look like crap. What can I do to get rid of them or make them not print?

You need to take off the gauge overlay. There s the two screws on the top. Take out the power window, defroster, and those switshes to get to the other screws.

Osiris, what kind of black light should i use? Is it just a bulb that's the same as the stock bulb and goes in the same place? I'm kinda confused about that step.

There should be a how-to written on how to get these things on. I couldn't get them on and I'm pretty sure I fucked my fuel gauge. Any help, I couldn't get them over the needles and what did you use to cut the holes?

if you take the lights out from the back of the gauges and try to change the colors you can't.. teh color is in the orginal gauge face. i got the gauge faces from pauls site and edited them to how i liked them (changed font) any questions e-mail me or pm me:) i printed mine on some kodak photo paper my dad had (shhh he dont know, i dont want him to)

Do you paint them or is the color the actually plastic. I tried to paint mine and it fucked the gauges all up.
On my gauges I changed around the colors and had the speedo go up to 165mph.

steven
07-26-2003, 07:33 PM
no i painted them ill upload a pic later..why would your speedo need to go to 165?

Justin86
07-27-2003, 04:38 PM
Well if you had a turbo or some nitrious, or even a big hill. Something that will allow you to get to that speed. Besides it looks cool cause the highest I have seen a honda gauge go up to is 150mph.

steven
07-27-2003, 07:40 PM
i saw a prelude in the junkyard that went up to 220..but its not there anymore.

Justin86
07-27-2003, 09:15 PM
I figured that the ludes would go higher but I have never been in one or see a lot inside. 220 is pretty fast are you sure that is wasen't in kph not mph.

steven
07-28-2003, 01:03 PM
no it was 220 mph im sure it was an older one i don't know what year i thought it was an accord from far away but walked up on it and it wasent.

Justin86
07-28-2003, 02:42 PM
Well that is a new one for me. I don't think that car can even go that fast, even if it was thrown out of a plane.
