my fuel tank is messed up coz i filled it up to the brim yesterday and the needle went on til the mid-line of the gauge. now (24 hrs later its up there in "Full") im guessing that it might be the sending unit that's faulty. any more speculations?

2nd question. Since the way of measuring the amount of fuel in my car is jacked up i just wanna know if the fuel warning light comes out where should the needle of the gauge be? like is it way past the redline? thanks ya`ll

yeah i just wanna do a follow up on the fuel warning light... when should it light up under normal circumstances? like is it before or after the needle has passed the redline?

Mine does the same in my 89 lxi. I usually just pay attention to the gas light though, and my mileage. Usually you can get at least 2 gallons with the gas light on. So when the gas light does come on you've use 13 gallons and have 2 left which = 15 gallons. :)

Diagnose this problem, by keeping a gas can fuel of gas in your trunk.

I have a problem where my gueage is accurate after I start up my car. While driving, the guage doesn't move, but if I restart the guage reads accurately. Odd. Doesn't really bother me though.

Nah its not really bad to say run your tank dry the car will just stall. What you usually don't want to do is not fill your car up till your just about empty becasue any kind of shit in the tank gets put through the system

Running out of fuel id not good because the internal diaphram can get air in it and your pump will no longer function.

The factory manual says that the light should be on for three gallons or less in the tank within three minutes. Four gallons or more in the the tank should shut off the warning light.
