I was casualy checking out my engine compartment to see what i could do here and there (plenty, let me tell you) when i noticed ALOT of oil/grease on the block. THEN I noticed a hole. Now the engine has been running.... ok. But it has been running. Check out the pics. Is this supposed to be there?

(sorry about size)

ohhhh crap man, you will need new trany.

JK, it is the normal hole. that is where you shine the timing light to get your timming right.

hahaha that was evil. Damn your engine is dirty. You need to go down to the carwash and pressure wash that with engine cleaner or tire cleaner so you can actually see what you're doing.

usually when it spits oil out of there it's time to replace the rear crankshaft seal (cheap part but you gotta drop the tranny :omg: )

It could also be the distributor o-ring. MIne leaked and my engine looked similar to yours in the exact same spot. If you are loosing barely any oil (I noticed after extensive driving that the level fell 2mm or so) then check the distr. o-ring. It is relatively cheap from the dealer. (Recommend that you get an OEm o-ring cause it will be exactly the perfect size). If your oil level drops significantly, it is probably the rear crank seal that is leaking. Just rule out the simple things before you go for the big stuff.

Hope you find this helpful.

mine is like that because I haven't cleaned after I changed the valve cover gasket and put some sealer on it.

but you see, i haven't done any of that. as a matter of fact, with 285k on it, i don't think i will. hey guys, how much should an A20A with 175k go for? i want to mess with the guy at the junk yard. I hate getting ripped off.
