How do you unhook antenna?

I want to replace the black cover on the hood of the car that the antenna hooks onto with a chrome one i found off of a older civic.
I have taken the two long screws out but can't lift the cover enough to get under it because of too much tension. I must have to disconnect the whole antenna from inside the car some how to get some slack. How do i do this??

someone just give me an idea. I have all day i don't care if it is even the wrong idea.

Disconnect the antenna from the radio and pull the cable back to the drivers side door to give it some slack. You pull a little here and there and you should be able to get it out.

Oh and the cover part is not interchangeable. If you want the chrome one you r gong to have to swap the two antennas.

What colors your car?

I have a brand new one for sale and the black cover is painted beige to match the car.

i have metallic blue. thanx for reply
