my goal is to have my car running 15's.
these are the mods im planning on doing: (in order)
=> COLD air intake (88-91 civic with custom made pipe to fit it front of radiator or fender)
=> headers
=> 2.25 in. exhaust with glasspack in place of resonator, gutted cat, and apexi style through muffler
=> MSD ignition
=> MSD coil
=> weber carb (which will totally screw up my cold air intake idea)
=> (maybe) adjustable cam gear

ok thats all i can think of. i know that setup right there wont get me near 15's. so what else can i do? i wanna stay with the A20A1.
i'd go with the B18C5 or ZC but thats just too much custom work for me. i dont wanna hear about taking out the back seats or remove a/c. i dont really care about weight reduction.

get your exhaust ports polished and matched to the header and that should get some more power.

You need a *mild grind* cam too.

ou can get a webber intake adapter also go with a colt cam triflow grind and a P&P head and a ajustiable gam gear is a good idea if you get your cam reground.

even mike (a20A1) is not running 15s, at least that is what he told me last time.
your best bet would be build the engine from ground up. make some blue prints and start building. i am gonna say replace the pistons (high compression), dual sidedrafters, wild cam, port and polish, prelude trans with aluminum flywheel and stage 2 clutch, and nice sticky tires. oh and may be some NOS for kicks.

all you need is nitrous! :) just get all your supporting mods in order, and run a 65-75hp shot, and you are there! :)

Polished yes... port matched no.

Having the port on the head smaller then the port in the exhaust flange/runners will create a reversion dam. Though with a stock manifold you'll never see the difference.

convert to FI to make life much easier then get a good intake and the rest of your listed mods.. also a 40 shot of nos and i think you could be running 15s in no time

i will never run nitrous. i dont care if they make a kit that will add 500HP i will never ever run nitrous.

so pretty much what ive heard is:
=> cam regrind
=> port and polish
=> upgrade pistons

i dont think even with this stuff ill be running in the 15 second range. maybe i should just go with my original idea which is to find a 88-95 civic Si hatch.

If you upgrade to somewhere around 11:1 you should hit 15's no problem but also upgrade your carb.

even if you run nitros you still need to replace your pistons and shit

Don't go wet NOS on your carb man...not a good idea. You'll probably detonate and blow your carb gasket or maybe your whole motor. Unless, someone here knows how to make the A20 motor have 16 valves total. That would be sweet.

If I were you, I'd convert over to FI and then go from there.
Converting to FI is almost the same work as a motor transplant.
All the above mods for a carb are great but to run 15 sec. is really tough for a carbed motor.

Anyway, that's my opionin.

No need to go civic. Instead, do 12:1 compression pistons, cam regrind, port/polish, webber conversion, dc sport header, lightweight flywheel, stage 3 clutch, msd ignition, LSD, and some lightweight (less than 15 pounds each) 16x8 wheels with good rubber like Nitto NT-555 or something similarly high-performance.

HAH HAH there is no way in HELL you're gonna run 15's with your stock auto tranny!!! Good luck running 15's without n2o........

your telling me an all motor car cant run 15's

nooooooo.
HES TELLING U AN AUTO EQUIPPED CAR HAS ALMOST NO CHANCE IN HELL TO RUN 15S
unless on the n20 but ull still ruin ur tranny and motor..
like everyone else says .. easiest thing would be to convert to FI
if u really want to get to ur goal
swap in a a20a3
bolt ons
wild cam
dsm 450cc injectors.. hhehe.. (would it even idle?)
fpr
fuel pump
prelude tranny
lightened flywheel
and a nice tire/rim combo..
oh.. and about no weight reduction.. if ur ass is not willing to sacrifice things for ur goal then whats the point? i mean.. ur at a track.. not like family members are with u.. or anything..
well.. to each his own
the setup i listed should run 15s with a good driver

no the easiest thing would be to get an Si. an 88-91 Si could be in 15's with some simple upgrades.

and about the weight reduction. i wanna keep my car looking as stock as possible. and i dont race at the track.

SCREW trying to get a carbed AND auto AND naturally aspirated AND full weight 3g accord into 15's. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. PERIOD. You'll have to give in at least one or two areas to even make it feasible. If you can't even do that, go ahead with the SI.

thanks Kami. it seems alot of people here are living dreams. at least with an Si, i have a shit load of aftermarket support.
