Greetings! I'm a new member after picking this 3G at the auto auction this week.

It's a 1987 LXi Hatchback with 186,000 miles.

Here's my baby, waiting to find a home.

http://12.255.2.131/accord/LXi002.jpg
Back home. Originally light blue, there is some cheap teal green job on it now. I want to paint it silver.

I haven't found a picture of another hatchback with louvres. Rare?

http://12.255.2.131/accord/LXi001.jpg
Holy smokes! That's either a new engine, or a very good steam cleaning job.

The kicker? It only cost $425.00. :super:

Thanks for all the great info here. I hope I can contribute in the future.

If you can, I'd like to know where these auctions are...

How would I go about getting in? I really have no clue about em but. I'm looking for an accord and I'd like to buy one if I see one at an auction.

Anything that would point me in the right direction?

I'd be interested too lol, that is a fine looking engine bay. Looks like it's been well-pampered, hope it lasts you.

This particular one was in Ogden, Utah.

I can't remember how I found them. Stumbled upon them on the internet months ago.

You can find auction listings in newspaper classifieds. Of course, a lot of auto auctions are closed to the public and only dealers can attend. The proceedure to obtain a dealer's license is different from state to state I believe.

Thanks, I know about the dealer auctions, I'm the one that has to handle all of those cars lol. Just got 12 from S. Florida, and another 17 coming from Dallas this week, bleeeeeh.

louvers are so ugly IMO. But the rest of the car looks nice. Good find.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of louvres either. However, in the desert heat here it sure makes the car cooler inside. I'll have to wait and see what I think of them after the snow and ice clog'em up.

I hate louvers, but... I like those.

You didn't hear that.

Also, I think thats a really good engine cleaning... that's what mine looks like now after 3 times at the car wash.

Well, it's clean on the outside, but not on the inside. I believe I need a rear main seal. Grrrrrrr.

Into the garage it goes!

Thanks to all that provided a great "How-To" for pulling the clutch. Should be fun!

I'm off now to my baptism of fire in Honda mechanics.

Welcome to the board, nice find you got their for steal of a deal at $425.

Sigh, reminds me of my car. Mine came with louvers, until I took them off, they were way to noisy and well, not my style.

Thats the same way my engine looked when I bought the car a few months ago, but now it's covered with a splattering of oil and dirt. Damn leaky seals. But I guess it must be expected after almost 150,000 mi.
IMO the louvers make the car look sportier, but they are very 80's.

bobafett
11-16-2005, 12:21 AM
nothing bad im sure...

he just sold his accord after it got wrecked, and with the insurance money was able to buy a g35 and put some killllller wheels on it. :) then he lowered it and put on some performance suspension off of a certiain model Z car, and exhaust, and that was the last i remember hearing from him. :(

i loved his hatch, and all his pictures .... he would definetly qualify for AOM...

wow, you guys want to see louvres, come to Loveland, CO

I've seen at least 3 hatchbacks with louvres here. And hatch's..... well, i see them almost daily. I even found one that looks identical to mine when it was stock..... but the paint and everything was mint.

I honestly think they look gay.... too much like the 80's Z.... it's like they were trying to copy Nissan on that one, plus, they just don't look right.

they look alright

there are 3 diff hatches runnin around here i see every once in a while, one ofthem has louvres. Unfortunately, all of them look like garbage, and are driven by old people. (ie, 40 plus, dont care about 3geez)

i found this website earlier today:

i think they have some for coupes and sedans too. i'm not sure how well made these are, and i've never ordered from this place before.

i think gay is in the eye of the beholder. and i like the 80's look... especially on an 80's car. maybe it's just that mine has always had them... don't know.. there are a few other hatches around where i live and none of them have them.. they look strange to me. but i don't think it's a z thing. someone around here has a mark i supra with louvers and that looks alot like mine.. i've seen AE86's with them too. then again someone around here has a like 93 mustang with louvers and it looks fuckin rediculous. all i know is that on a really hot day, it keeps the car much cool and the sun, or peoples extremely bright lights never hit my rear view mirror. and they're the sole reason why my car was nicknamed "the hedgehog". i like mine.. people are different.
