Well crutchfield says that they are 5" ers, but there is only one model that they have that will fit. SO, I was wondering what sizes people have gotten to fit in there doors with ease.

I got 6.5 inch speakers in with no problems.

as far as i know, all 3geez came stock with 6.5's in the front. anyway, that's the size you want. you can get just about any 6.5" speaker to fit too, you just have to cut out the back of the little plastic basket if the magnet sticks out too far.

Just called Honda. 160mm Panasonic's are the factory stock. That's about 6.25 inches.

Yup, no cutting or modifications, the 6.5" speakers i put in were a simple swap with the stock ones.

Hmmm... I'm still confused, cause Circuit City said that they were 5" Crutchfield said that they were 5" and now Honda (and some of you guys) are saying 6"+

you can just measure the one's you have in there... just unscrew the grille in the door. then you'll know for sure

they say that they're 6.5"

Cool. I hope it's that easy. Though I thought that the rear speakers would be bigger than the front ones.

Well, now that it seems like that question is solved, anyone got any good recomendations? Don't like tons and tons of bass, I like it's to be pretty smooth. I listen to a lot of rock and jazz is the car. Some classical.

Good because you won't be getting tons and tons of bass out of a 6.5 that isn't any deeper then where your window comes to.

I got a 2 pairs of Clarions and they sound really great. I listen to all of the stuff you do, and i have no complaints, great sound balance, not too many highs or lows, just nice, clean sound.

My car is 5 1/4 up front and 6X9 in the back stock.. It depends on your model

I'm swapping them all out. The dude who owned the car before me put some crazzy Pionner speakers in the back. They sound great for how old they are, but man, I've NEVER seen anything like them before. They are mounted to that rear deck there, but they are above in there own housing. Three way speakers. Man, weird. I'll post pics after I take them out.

The later modles were different. But all the 87 accord sedans were the same.

You can have some AWESOME bass from the front speakers... I have ~$230 Audio Control 6.5"s in there and they pound pretty damn hard... harder than I've ever heard 6.5"s before, but I'm upgrading them to some 6.5"s with 6 mm of xmax, so they should be able to hit a wee bit harder :D

The stock speaker size up front is arond 6.5"... it's actually a lot closer to 6.25" than 6.5". The thing is a lot of mid/entry level aftermarket speaker makers say things are sizes that they aren't. Those Audio Control speakers are 6.5", I measured them, and that is their exact diameter. The thing is, they are bigger than can fit easily in the baskets. Solution? Mutilate the basket to get them to fit, drill new holes to mount them down, and use electrical tape around the edge of them to seal off the front wave from the rear wave.

However, I previously had a decent pair of JVC "6.5'" speakers in there, and they fit perfectly, absolutely no modifications what-so-ever.

All in all, ANYTHING will fit in the front, it just depends how much work you want to put in. I know of one guy that's made fiberglass pods in his front doors to house 12" woofers. I made fiberglass pods to house (and angle) the next set of speakers I'm putting in my car, because they were too big to try and fit in the stock basket (I'll post a thread of pics sometime, when I get around to it).

So if you want to know if something will fit easily or not, there's a simple solution: Measure. Measure the speaker basket, and then find specs on the diameter of the speakers you want. Compare, and decide from there.

In order to have 6 1/2's in the front of an 89 accord Lxi you have to cut holes in that material that has a screen like material in the back of it. Also, make sure the mounting depth is not too deep because if the magnet goes too far in, you are going not going to be able to roll your windows up... trust me I did it when I first tried I felt like an idiot, but I found away around it so I was lucky. Well anyways, I hope that helps. Oh shit, I am going to be a DX User Now!

I put 6.5 all the way around.

No modification no problems
