When I fixed rust in my car last year, I accidently sanded my door outer moldings, so I found new ones from my friend's dad's old Accord (2 years older than mine). They seemed to be in better shape than mine although they were covered with dust and everything. So I decided to pry them off and take them with my since I don't have to pay for anything I take from the abandoned Accord. Here are pics of the car:

Here are the moldings after some renovation:

And here's what you need to make them look so good: first clean them with soapy water and maybe some old toothbrush. Then apply silicone to the rubber and/or plastic surfaces:

Then apply metal polish to the metal surface...

...and admire the result. You can actually see the rubber and plastic parts shine. Look closely and you'll see my 3G in the backround.

I also use a silicone spray similar to that one. Once or twice a year I soak a paper towel with it and apply it to the weatherstripping for the doors, trunk, hood, etc. It keeps them from drying out and shrinking.

It won't help the rubber around the rear window and top of the windshield much, though.

You know, on the doors...the shiny metal bits.

The coupes do not have th shiny metal stuff on the moldings. The window moldings on mine are just slid black rubber. The silicone works on them.
