Hi !
My Honda Accord 1989 LX (auto transmission) started acting up a few weeks ago. I was on a long drive and the car suddenly lost power on the highway. I would hit the gas, but the rpm would just go down down down - so I guess the engine just shut off.
Now I have this intermittent problem, I'll start the car, It'll idle just fine, I'll put it in drive, if I wait too long, the engine dies, if I take my foot off the brake, the engine dies.
After a lot of coaxing the car will run a bit.
I changed the fuel filters, the distributor cap and dumped carb cleaner in the tank. No Joy.

The PCV filter looked dirty, but I doubt that has an effect

Any suggestions for further things i can check for ?

Thanks !

Check your coolant and oil level. sometimes overheating will cause those problems.

When you removed the black air cleaner did you check the vacuum lines? Some of the older vacuum lines are no good once you remove them because the rubber is permanently streatched and they lose their tight seal.
