Hi Guys:

Where is the best place to install an amplifier into our 3Gs? Would you recommend inside the trunk or under the seat.

Thanks,
Claude

I'd say trunk, under the seats it pretty small

Depends on how big it is...

I personally wouldn't install it under a seat because water/snow/dirt can get on and in it. In my '87 Hatch I installed them on the back of the back seats, works pretty well. In my '89 I currently have them mounted to MDF boards, and just laying in the back of the trunk. I will be making fiberglass racks before too long.

only in the trunk. You will need as moch airflow as possible to cool down the amps.
i have seen people installing them on the back dash, so every thief can see them.

Hi Guys:

Thanks for the recommendation. I have a DX sedan so it doesn't have the reinforced fold down seats. It's just one whole backrest that doesn't move and the from the trunk side, there isn't anything to mount an amplifier.

Would I be better off trying to install the amplifier to the underside of the rear deck lid? Any of you guys come up with something that leaves the trunk space intact ?

Thanks,
Claude

i would mount the amp to the sub box. if it will fit. if its a four channel amp and you dont have a sub, mount it to the floor out of the way between the strut towers... or even sink it flush into the floor

i mount my two amps under the rear dash, they are upsidedown, but it is ok.

Right now I just have a little wedge shaped board. Later it will go on the back of the seat. I had this in the 3g before the buick.

I wish i had a digi camera...
oh well.
I placed mine on my box next to sub. I guess it's easier than trying to find another spot in the car.
