I am having trouble with my carb'd 86 LX. I have done the vacuum line removal and the air intake mod. Even have tuned the carb according to the directions layed out in the how to's. There is just one problem. When I start my car in the morning, the engine idles really really rough. It idles like is going to die and i have to hold the gas in til it warms up. I do not know what else to do. I have checked the choke and the checked the RPM's When the car is warm, it idles at 1000 RPM.

It would have to be your choke. Try checking the linkage and such as well. Make sure you have it wired correctly. Make sure the choke wire isn't going to the pump and the vice-versa.

You still have the manifold heater hooked up right?

I have disconnected the manifold heater.
I also have found out the problem. The choke is not holding open when I depress the gas when I start it. I disabled the choke by holding it open with a screw. I do not know much about carbs so I do not know how to fix the choke.

I am looking for someone to rebuild my spare carb for me and then I am going to change it out.
