Looking straight down on top of the windshield washer fluid reservoir, on the side closest to the windshield, there is a space. On my car, all there is a big hole you can pretty much put your hand in with a black cap over it. On my mom's car, it has a device sticking out of it (all metal). What is it?

It's problely for part of the AC.

if it has 2 metal lines, one on each side of it, its the ac receiver dryer
