i have an 89 accord dx sedan that i've been trying to part out for a few months now. it's wrecked in the front and has no title. i bought it for the engine and transmission which have since been removed. right now i'm just looking to get it out of my yard and in the junk yard but i've asked a couple junk yards and they won't junk it without a title. what can i do?

just find a shitty junkyard, and take it there at night and just leave it in their parking lot. Thats what i do with my tires that I dont need.

Did you advertise in your local paper that you were parting or say something to the affect of, "Free Accord Frame"!

well it would have to be something more along the lines of free bent accord frame

well... go to the dmv and give them the vin, and see where the title is, contact the guy who owns it, and tell him to take it back!

The DMV has procedures for that. Just go there, tell them where you bought the car, give them a receipt or something and they will handle it from there.

If you think it was stolen, you'll run the risk of getting thown in the slammer for having stolen property. And you probably cant prove you didnt steal it either. You're up against a rock and a hard place my friend.

Most yards will tow it for free if it's still on wheels. Get it on wheels, get it to a place it's easily towed, call them, put the title in it, and see if they'll take it.

If it's got no motor/tranny, I have no idea if they'll want it. Mine would, but you're not in upstate NY

hmm... scrap metal place maybe would do it. no idea though, look in the phone book for scrapping or garbage and ask around

does the receipt from the dealer say the VIN on it? If so, then you're in the clear. When you call the j/y, and they ask about the title, let them know you don't have the title, but you do have the receipt from the dealer you bought it from and the vin is on the receipt. They may want to hit you with a tiny fee (25-30) to come and get it, but most of the time that's enough for them. If not, what someone else already said, call up the DMV, or go there and explain the situation to them. Also, post up the VIN in General or MarketPlace and ask someone to run a CarFax on it. Surely that'll at least tell you the story with it.

ok. well the reciept doesn't have the vin number on it, i don't think. but it was a really nice guy and i'm sure he'll write me up a bill of sale or something. and i have been trying to part it out for like 3 months now, incase you missed my signature, and the first message in thgis thread. i've been trying to call the dmv but can never get through.
