My car is still BROKEN !! *cries*.. ok this is my new problem.. i was heading towards some roadworks n they have a speed camera n a "thingy" that tells u ur speed. Me n my dad decided to test it.. but first go i noticed on my speedo i was going 50 but the thing said 46 .. den i go back the camera n i go at 40 which i was meant to go. n the thing(screen whateva) said i was going 35.. Is there some way i can like readjust the needles or do i need to buy a new gauge cluster again -_- ?

you should be off by about 2 may be 3 mph.

only if when you put the bigger rims on you had you speedo recalibrated then when you put the stock ones back on you did not change the speedo back. So yes wheel size does make a diff.

When you go to bigger tires your speedo will read slower then you are actually going. So how you car is doing the opposite is weird.

i forgot to mention my cruise control does'nt work properly either.. and with the 17's it did'nt work at all :S ...

... Oh yeah i dunno how big those tyres are, i'll ask my friend later since they're his rims

Look on the side of the tire. Either 205/40/R17 (23.5" dia) or 215/40/R17 (24" dia) Stock tire is 190/60/R13 (22.5" dia)

oops.. well i dunno much about tires.. all's i was told r that the rims r 17" and the tread r 35 at the front n 45 at the back.. yah sorry i did'nt hear properly the first time.

That was all i was told. I'll go take a proper look at the wheels next time i see them. Since they belong on a nissan silvia

I don't know how well that will work on your car. The Silvia is rear drive so there would be more tire in the rear then in the front. I could be wrong with the sizes. I don't work at a tire store but the most common 17" tire size is 205/40 and 215/40. But the 35, 40, 45 is the tire thickness from the tread to the rim. Stock tires or 60 size, notice how much more side wall there is too the tire the 40 size low pros.

They just do that, it probably doesn't have shit to do with tire size, I can drive all 3 of my cars by one, a CR-V, a mazda B2200 and my accord and all three will read a little higher than the gun will, so try it in different cars before you end up looking way too far into things.

che !.. aight next time im near the airport i'll test it out :P. But yeah it just shits me, 5k's less than what the needle says is'nt to good for me. oh btw.. the silvia rims.. both the front n rear wheels would'nt fit on the back of my accord without SCRAPING, tore off heaps of rubber on the rears ones hahah

you sir are very wrong and are giving out very wrong info...

you cant get a 190 size car tire, only motorcycles... and thats a huge ass motorcycle

also, the stock size is 185/70/13... thats for DX/LX
the stock LX-i/SE-i size is 195/65/14

also, 215/40/17's arent 24 inches in diameter... trust me, i own a set

Yea I was wrong on the stock tire size, I could exactely remember but it didn't madder. On the 215/400R17 I was told they were like 24" in dia. I know that the 205 are 23.5" and that the 215 are bigger in dia. Maybe my source was wrong but this thread is over and done with.
