The answer would be bulb covers. You can, however, puchase some colered bulbs now days or LEDs and replace accordingly.

Am I the only person interested in this?

I've found out a number of things.
1st- Honda Parts Dept. are ZERO help.:pissed: I called one in Hawaii (they were closed here) and they said that they DON'T have any part numbers, just bulb specs. *rolleyes* They said they want customers to BRING in the bulbs that they need so they can match them.

2nd- That the "12v 3.4watt" bulb has the number 158 accociated with it at www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and 158 is a common wedge style design that fits the idea of using the little caps to twist them in and out of the gauge pannel.

I'm still trying to figure out what in god's name the 12v 1.4watt bulbs are all about. But I did an ebay search on 158 and bulbs and this is what I came up with...

Blue-

Red-

If anyone has any more info please feel free to speak up.

That last one might, but I am going to go to the J/Y tomorrow to fish out a gauge assembly and all the lights from the dash. I would love to get that "german" dash look with all red lights.

BTW: It looks like the ash tray light is the same as the rest of the 12v 1.4watt bulbs. I'll confirm that tomorrow unless anyone can confirm that now.

Actually, I just confirmed that by looking at the part numbers at www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

So I went out to the J/Y today. And looked at a ton of gauges and the light setups. There are really only about 6 or 7 bulbs that control the actuall color of the gauge assembly.

5 - Model #158 12V 3.4watt Toshiba bulbs. Sometimes they have other number on them. These also use the blue, comdom like, sleeves. Usually a letter and a number over a set of tow numbers. Like....

J8
33

Note: It seems that the ones with the number (above) are from the Nippon Denso gauges, not the Nippon Seiki Gauges.

2- 12V 1.4watt TSD #74 bulbs. Though they go in a top pannel that has a piece of plastic that creates the blue light. I will post pictures as soon as I can. Though in the Seiki gauges, the blue piece of plastic only has a few spots that aren't blacked out. Where the Denso gauges have nothing blacked out.

Now the challege begins. Finding bulbs.

It also looks like the same person offering the bulbs on ebay also offers the same bulbs in an LED version. Also the 3.4watt #158 bulb also uses the number 194.

The one that makes the color blue/green is the actuall blue plate that is ontop of your dash panel. If you pull off the plastic cover, there is a blue plate., If you change that or replace that it will be a different coloor. also you could use some pain thinner and remove the colring and then use colored bulbs will glow whatever color you want!
