I was wondering what kind of stuff i should use to make my motor look all shiny and clean. I have used some spray on stuff but it didnt really work. What does everyone else use? If u have pix, post them :super:

i use a couple cans of degreaser(GUNK i think) and a pressure washer like the ones at those self-serve car washes.

of course you know to be careful with the pressure washer. you can majorly hurt a foot or arm if it got hit, so you can imagin what it could do to the electrical wires in the engine bay.

im shur his washer isnt an industrial one.. most smaller ones are same to use, just make shur you dont soak the alt./dist. cap and the fuse boxes

Try a search in either here or the pictures forum. I know I have seen quite a few pictures of clean bays around here lately.

yeah i used the GUNK degreaser and it helped a lot. i had to use more than one can, but do it a few times, u will never get all the grime in one setting. my engine bay needs like 1 month of solid cleaning. :D

I went to the car wash and sprayed engine cleaner on it and pressure washed it there 3 times. Looks brand new now.

Castrol makes teh best degreaser that I have ever used. It isn't aerosol it is in a squirt bottle and you can buy a gallon refill for it.

I just got my new replacement A20 in. The wrecker had written, "Runs Exc. 165 comp. No smoke" on the valve cover. I think that makes it look pretty new.

do you jusr cover the distributer and fuse box or what? or could I just disconnect the battery, remove it and just let everything air dry

GUNK Foaming is awesome.

Use plastic bags and cover:
1) battery
2) intake (if you have aftermarket open filter)
3) distributer
4) alternator
5) other electrical compnents that are exposed.

Yep I agree with 87 Hybrid. Get Castrol Super Clean in a purple bottle. The stuff is really good. Just spray on and hose off. No need to warm engine. Use it on the engine when it is cooled down. A great start to getting a clean engine.
