I just got done with an overheating problem with my 88' Accord DX wich turned out to be a pretty stupid problem.( The radiator hoses were on backward, hahahaha) I couldn't help but laugh.
Anyways it doesn't seem like the fans ever want to come on. I was wondering if that is normal. my buddy who has a 90' Accord told me that his only comes on when he turns on his A/C.

I have an 88 Accord DX and sometimes they come on after I am done driving or am in a long idle. It is usually afte I have driven a little hard...because I don't really use my AC.

let you sit idling for a very long time. because there would be not enough airflow, fans should come on. if they don't come on, the fan switch is broken. it is located on the bottom of the radiator.

might be your water level in the resivoir for the coolant overflow, had the same prob about the thing not turning on. I looked at the res. and there was nothing in it so i filled it and it came on. must be some sensors in the res that turns it on if its full or something.

I have one fan thats always on, and the other doesn't work so well. I am thinking that when I replace the one dying fan the other will only come on when needed

the bigger fan on the passenger side is on a thermal switch at the bottom of the radiator that turns it on at a certain temp. The smaller one on the drivers side is for the condensor and only comes on when the A/C is on. Hers 2 good links on tthe switch and bleeding your cooling system for ya
