I had the same problem with my 'new' 3g. I was racking my brain, until i realized I hadn't checked all the BULBS in the system.
If you have this problem, it is probably a blown/shorting out bulb... check your blinkers up front (the ones facing straight on). I found two shorted/blown bulbs, replaced them, and haven't blown a fuse or lost gauge cluster lights/cigarette/interior/running lights since!
