I have a 87 accord and dont care for the pop up lights much, I saw a 3rd gen that had the stationary head lights and liked that alot. Is that how that car would of came or is there a conversion I can do to get stationary lights? If anyone knows it would apreciated...thanks :)

it depends. People have converted. But i believe it is standard for the Europiean/Aussie models.

don't they kinda look like the older civics? the headlights I mean..?? I thought I seen some... nothing to impressive. I thought I read in here that someone had sight on conversion kit for non-popup headlights, that were projection.. anyone else read that?

Yeah they pretty much look like the older civic headlights. To convert, you could swap from an older civic (I've seen one, not done all the way though, and it looks alright), or you can get your hands on the European model 3g. Think about it though... You'd need a new hood and grille, on top of many other things.

...and also you would need new front fenders! Check the pictures below, stationary headlights are on all European 3g Accords.

IMO the prelude conversion looks tons better then the JDM, but most people dont agree.

I think that looks Horrid.! I would way rather have the JDm headlights.. But I do want the prelude tails.

If I would do the conversion I would instead keep my bumper and keep the car black, I think it would look awesome. If I only had a car to do this on that I don't drive everyday and free headlights from a prelude I would do it.

I'm pretty sure a lot of them European and Aussie guys are envioius of our retracting headlights, but for sure we're envious of their B20's.

theres plenty of european 3g owners on here and im sure they would help you get all the stuff you needed for a conversion. it would cost a decent amount but it would make you so very unique and when people who dont know crap say ..oh is that a civic? or are those civic lights on your accord..you tell them its pure JDM baby.

well... it's actually less work, but I was going to take the integra llights... you know the one that has two round lights on either side, I forget waht years... mid 90's...

anyway, I'm gonna just put my flip up lights down, and cut out a couple holes for the integra lights to shine through and just build my own brackets and adjustment screw set up...

I will just cover the holes with plexiglass and then mold them into the body... pprobably just use bondo... then paint the plexiglass with that night shades tinting paint

I just don't know how soon I'm gonna get the time to do it.

Awhile back ago i saw a kick ass conversion...i saw a 3g that had converted its headlights to the nissan 350 lights. It looked sick.

look into that...it looked like the conversion wasn't that hard

I've been thinking real hard about taking my popups out and getting a glass/chrome enclosure made to mount some projection lights in. I really liked the flipups but there just getting to be to old school for me. I'd just mount the enclosure right where the flipups are so that I wouldn't have to do any body work.

Where can you have a custom enclosure like that made for a reasonable price? I would imagine minimum $350-$400 just to get them made.

I honstly don't think it would cost near that much I was just going to use mirrored glass, make a template out of plywood and then ask the local glass place to make it. It wouldn't have any rounded edges or anthing so there wouldn't be anything to hard involved in cutting and assembleing the glass.

sounds good hj, i think our cars would look good with the popup taken out and where that sqaure area is, put a square light

Man I think it would be great. If it can be done, I'd buy it.

I just did one with mitsubishi 3000 gt projection headlights. They fit real nice with little fabrication. and look sweet and sit tall enough you can still use stock hood.

I would leave it the same because that would be like taking a 1957 Ford Thunderbird and cutting the fins off the back, changing the rear side windows, and changing the hood to look more like a cavalier or ford tarus.

i like retractable headlights.. ONLY ACCORD GEN with them!!!

besides us, few others have it too. Ludes, 240sx S13 models, NSX, Corvette, Firebird, MR2, Starion, 1st Gen Eclipse, Toyota AE86 and dont forget the Ferraris like F355.

Mainly an 80's craze, but I say stick with the era it came from. :)

here... this is what I think would look wicked on one of our cars, done by a local guy, and it cant be that different from the lude to the accords.

I also considered replaceing the retractable headlights with non-retractables, when I got my hatchback. But it's too much work, and so much replaceing. It's not worth it.
